HAWKEYE Star Jeremy Renner Weighs In On The Possibility Of One Day Playing Old Man Hawkeye

In one possible Marvel Comics future, Clint Barton becomes "Old Man Hawkeye" in a reality where supervillains have killed many of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Now, Jeremy Renner has weighed in on that...

The "Old Man Logan" storyline took us to a reality where the world's supervillains teamed up to put an end to Earth's Mightiest Heroes once and for all. A few survived, including Clint Barton and, as the title suggests, Wolverine. It would be pretty amazing to see some sort of adaptation of that story down the line, but would Jeremy Renner be interested in becoming Old Man Hawkeye?

During a recent interview with Jake's Takes, the actor commented on the possibility of exploring that idea.

"Yeah, I love it. Old Man Hawkeye. [Laughs] Yeah, I hope I'm a super joyful Hawkeye. If I'm that old, I hope I just forget all the bad things that happen in life, and he's just happy," Renner joked. "He's happy Hawkeye. He's 80, he can't move, he's got a terrible limp, but he's so happy!"

These comments are mostly tongue in cheek, though it would be no bad thing for the Hawkeye star to don some old man makeup (or return to the role a couple of decades from now) to play this version of Clint. For those of you unfamiliar with the alternate reality take on the character, he's blind when Logan meets him again, but was also featured in a solo adventure before that which explored his sight loss.

There's potential there for a movie or TV series (an animated one, perhaps?) but we'll see what the future holds in store. For now, all eyes are understandably on Hawkeye itself following its launch today.

In our review, we said"Marvel Studios is once again sleigh-in' it with Hawkeye, an unmissable Christmastime team-up bringing holiday cheer to the MCU with top tier storytelling delivered in the Mighty Marvel Manner and a bold, brilliant new hero in Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop."

Would you be interested in seeing Old Man Hawkeye in the MCU?

It's very clear he doesn't know anything about the character beyond what he's played. Or maybe he just hasn't heard of "Old Man Clint". And I don't know how I feel about that. It seems disingenuous. I think it would have been better for him to just say, "I don't know about that story. Tell me about it and then I'll answer the question." Rather than say what he did. Because for fanboys it gives us all a WTF? moment in our heads. And for crazy people it lights the match.

Renner's got a dark sense of humor, but why would you ask someone a question with the implication that they are/or are getting old?
