Following the intense negative critical reception of
Marvel's Iron Fist when it first premiered in March, fans and non-fans alike have been left wondering if the show would be given a second swing by Netflix. Well reportedly at
Puerto Rico Comic-Con, the star of the mcuh-maligned Marvel series confirmed that Danny Rand will indeed get a second shot in a second season, which he claims will be announced soon.
This would certainly be an odd claim for Jones to make if he was not certain it would be the case. From the souds of it, it seems Netflix's internal ratings outweighed the negative reviews brought on by the first season of the show, and are willing to give the champion of K'un L'un another round. With Season 1 showrunner Scott Buck at work on another series, Marvel's The Inhumans, for the forseeable future, it would seem likely that a second season would likely have a different showrunner at the wheel for a new season of Iron Fist. With Netflix expanding and speeding up their timeline for production, with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Daredevil all confirmed to begin filming their next seasons this year, as well as the release of both The Defenders and The Punisher later this year, it seems the Immortal Iron Fist will get a shot at redemption as well, after a brutal string of reviews following the release of the first season.
As to when this official announcement will arrive, it is a safe bet that it will come with the upcoming San Diego Comic Con in July, where Marvel and Netflix unveiled the renewal of Daredevil for a third season last year.
