IRON FIST Showrunner Confirms That Danny Rand Won't Be Suiting Up During Season 1
Iron Fist showrunner Scott Buck talks about the decision to not give Finn Jones' Danny Rand his classic comic book costume in season one, something sure to disappoint fans of the Living Weapon...
It took both Daredevil and The Punisher thirteen episodes before suiting up, while neither Jessica Jones nor Luke Cage went near a costume. Such is the tone of the grounded world of The Defenders, but if you were excited about seeing Iron Fist get his classic green and yellow duds, you may want to think again as showrunner Scott Buck has confirmed that it won't be happening.
Talking to Games Radar recently he explained that there simply wasn't a "good reason" to put Danny Rand in that costume during Iron Fist's highly anticipated first season. "Danny Rand is still discovering who he is as a hero and where he is going to be," he said, "so he’s not yet ready to put on a mask or a costume." That's a shame, but it appears as if we can expect this to be addressed in some way as Buck went on to add that not having a mask "does become an issue for the character."
What that means remains to be seen, though if Danny finds he needs to hide his secret identity because of his billionaire status (something Buck alludes to in the full interview), it could be that we see him finally get a costume in The Defenders when that launches this summer.
