Ryan Phillippe Reveals That He's In Talks For A Marvel/Netflix Series; Could He Be IRON FIST?

Damages star Ryan Phillippe was among those considered for the role of Captain America a number of years ago, but the actor has now revealed that he's in talks with Marvel for a role in one of their shows on Netflix? Iron Fist? The Punisher? Bullseye? Hit the jump for details...

According to Bleeding Cool, Ryan Phillippe appeared on the Howard Stern show this morning and revealed that he's in talks with Marvel to appear in one of their Netflix shows. Casting for A.K.A. Jessica Jones is more than likely finished with at this point and it seems a bit too early to start finding actors for season two of Daredevil, so could it be that he'll star as Iron Fist in Luke Cage

There are a number of other possibilities of course, including characters like Bullseye and The Punisher, and there's absolutely nothing to say that he won't end up having only a very minor role. After all, he didn't say whether or not he's being eyed for a part anywhere near as big as Iron Fist.

We'll just have to wait and see, but now the word is out there, expect to hear something from the trades or Marvel fairly soon! Who do you guys think Phillippe would be well suited for in the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? As always, be sure to share your thoughts below!

Back in the 90's, he was my choice for a live action Angel. I always thought he would be a perfect Warren.

As long as this series shows the scene where Iron Fist (as a child) sees his mother eaten by wolves, I will be pleased with anything.

I'm torn because if you've watched him recently he's become a really great actor. Iron Fist is a little known character so you might need a bigger name to play him. I thought they'd go younger but he's about the same age as Cox and the guy playing Cage so it makes sense in that way. If he is Iron fist i don't have a problem with it but I do think he'd make a better Punisher or Moon Knight.

I think he'll be a villian though...Bullseye?

I can't buy Ryan Phillippe as an expert martial artist...

He just doesn't seem like the right fit for the character.

Dan Stevens for Iron fist. He may be up for a villain role in iron fist or Luke cage. Marvek does do inspired casting however. Maybe h3 could be iron fist. He could be the Steel Serpent Davos, Danny Rands opposite. Every hero needs a polar opposite, and the martial arts master Davos provided Iron Fist with just that. As the Steel Serpent, this native of the mystical city K’un-L’un has even been able to absorb Iron Fist’s power into his own body. Including the Steel Serpent in Iron Fist would both allow for a natural exploration of the history of K’un-L’un and lead to the elaborate martial arts melees that fans expect out of a series starring Danny Rand.

I clicked on the article confusing him with ryan Kwanten and got really excited because I've always wanted him in a actual marvel property but then got upset because it's just this guy but eh he would be a decent choice but imo would make a better elektra in my opinion but so would @gusto

He also revealed he has a black belt in tae kwon do. He's 40 but looks much younger. He's a good guest on the Stern show, i'm just not convinced on his acting abilities.

I admit I haven't seen THAT many of his movies, but he was incredible in Way of the Gun. And apparently he is a black belt in something, so that's cool. Could totally buy him as Danny Rand, if that is what its for.

If it's as good as Daredevil, I'm in! Now Iron Fist would be cool!

In my mind it is down Cam Gigandet (preferred choice) or him as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, so I'm okay with this if it turns out to be true. In my opinion he has become a pretty solid actor over the years (check out Damages), is definitely what I'd call a pretty boy (which is kinda required for Danny) and has some martial arts experience
