JESSICA JONES EP Unsure About Season 2

"Marvel has a lot going on. So does Netflix. So I don’t know if a second season fits into this schedule, when, whether or not we’ll get one." That's Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg discussing whether the titular heroine will ever get another season.

Eleven days after Daredevil season one premiered, Netflix announced plans for season 2.  It's been 13 days since Jessica Jones premiered last month but we still don't know if Krysten RItter's Alias Investigations will be solving more mysteries in a second season. Jones will definitely feature in The Defenders and will likely feature in Luke Cage's solo series but who knows whether the dangling plot threads from her solo series will be wrapped up in other shows.

Speaking on that very subject, Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg stated, "I’d love that. Me, personally – I’m ready to go," regarding a second season.  She continued, "Marvel has a lot going on. So does Netflix. So I don’t know if a second season fits into this schedule, when, whether or not we’ll get one. I don’t know any of that. I personally, I’m ready to jump in now. I’ve had some time off. I needed some time off! It was a really hard run."

Rosenberg is also unsure just how much influence she'll have over the character of Jessica Jones, as she's depicted in the other Netflix series.  But she's confident that Ritter will be a watchful caretaker, regardless of whether her input is sought on Luke Cage or The Defenders.  "What I have is Krysten Ritter, and she and I are on exactly the same page with this character.
And that is a women that will not do something that violates the character in any way. So if I have nothing to do with it, I trust that she’s going to be the protector of the character."

If they have a good story to tell I'm all for season 2. As long as they ditch some of the minor characters. Robyn was just the pinnacle of irritating, and Malcolm started out with a promising story and just became dull.

I don't want a season 2. Not for the the thinly-veiled misogynistic excuses normally seen here, but because Season 1 was so well done that I can't see them topping Kilgrave.

The solution isn't to go bigger and more punchy. That's counterproductive to the narrative style they established.

@DrDoom

"As much as I liked Jessica Jones, they killed off her only notable villain"

Well thanx for the spoiler pal.

She doesn't need another season, she can be added to Heroes for Hire with Iron Fist and Misty Knight. I'll accept some liberties with origin.

She could find out Matt Murdock is Daredevil (in Alias she discovers Steve Rogers is Captain America after being hired to do so, unbeknownst to herself) and they could introduce some figurehead from IGH as the villain trying to figure out who the [frick] Daredevil is.

I think Jessica Jones started great.

But by the time...

***SPOILERS***

...Killgrave visited her apartment and forced her neighbour to kill himself, things kinda derailed. Same thing happened to Daredevil, but it olny took a plunge by the last episode.

Did Kilgrave's parents work for IGH? Was that established?

The hype for this show died out pretty quick.......no I am not saying the show is bad or horrible.

The show is solid.

That is the only downfall with Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon........it does not have the capability to reach everyone.

I'd love a second season, but I think we are getting Daredevil Season 2, Luke Cage and Iron Fist all next year and The Defenders early in 2017 so there is a lot going on but after that someone's going to get second seasons.

That's fine. They pretty much used all her stories up in one go anyway. All she can do from here is get knocked up and become a nag.

JJ season 2 villain could be Nuke (deep) and JJ finding out about IGH. Inhuman Growth Hormone?

I would like if they pull an Arrow and use villians from other heroes and make it a simple job at first but then it gets more personal and heated ala Dexter season 4

Netflix shows are weird in that they feel like movies but movies you can't talk about it. Bunch of people watching things at their own pace, and by the time everyone is on the same page the people who watched it first have to an extant moved on. I still love that we have them. I'm told it's the future of television. But a huge part of me loves weekly episodes.

Great series, but I could see it working as a standalone. When you take out the Purple Man conflict, Alias itself mostly revolved around random cases which often involved other big time superheroes who we can't expect to see on Netflix. Probably best to make her a player in other shows.

...how bout that Batman v Superman, tho

Yeah, his parents worked with IGH. I'm thinking IGH is a subsidiary of Rand. DD will get involved via lawsuit, because Hogarth is known in the comics for being the Rand Corp's lawyer. That's why Hogarth knew to take the fetal sample to IGH.
I think IGH found out about Jessica's and Matt's accidents long ago and then started testing the chemicals on orphans and inmates. Maybe this chemical is processed from a plant that grows in Kun Lun.

There is no shortage of villains for a second season of any of these shows. There are tons of lower caliber villains in the comics that one can tweak to make complex scary baddies capable of sustaining a season.
slickrickdesigns
slickrickdesigns - 12/3/2015, 10:25 AM
I bet their just going to keep DD with consistent seasons and JJ, Luke Cage and Iron Fist will all get 1 season each and the Defenders series will be their second seasons combined.

@rabid
I'm thinking IGH might be in league with the Hand. In Danny's absence in Kun Lun, maybe some Obadiah Stane type takes over his company and does some evil stuff. Including and not limited to testing out possible cures for severe medical illnesses on underpriveleged or seriously injured children.

That might tie into Daredevil. Maybe Stick went to Matt before IGH could get their hands on him and start testing shit on him. IGH might be trying to make enhanceds for the Hand for the upcoming war teased by Stick and Stone in DD, and they're being funded by the Rand Corporation. Maybe Black Sky wasn't mystical at all, maybe he was just an enhanced child from IGH's programme being delivered to the Hand.
NovaCorpsFan
NovaCorpsFan - 12/3/2015, 10:34 AM
Or maybe it's the reverse. Maybe Black Sky is a mystical enhanced from Kun Lun that Stick had to prevent from being delivered to the Hand who'd've given him to IGH.

I was not waiting on Jessica Jones with baited breath, but after watching it, twice, I am now waiting on season 2 with baited breath.
