Everyone raves about Kingpin being an amazing MCU villain, but I didn't think he was that great. Hoping Purple Man is a step up.

@BodieBroadus

The thing is that Kingpin was play by Vincent D'Onofrio and that the character was not only respectful to his comics origin but also to the tone of the show.

Vincent D'Onofrio cold and lost way to act. Mix with his origins/background and how strong was the violence represent around the character make him great.

But yes, i believe that Daredevil wasnt great. The show was great until episode 6/7 when it become a little bit too comicbooky, i know it sounds bad, because is a comic book show. But until then the writers and director make a great ground and realistic underground ambient that loose his way...

I never liked how the Chinese and Japanese were empty from inside, when they were portray like some of the biggest and more powerfull, i also hated how the law enforcement looks like working for Fisk.

It doesnt look realistic.

The ultra-rich and powerful do use police as their personal security without them having to be full-on "dirty". (And obviously there are dirty cops, as well.)

Yeah, the show definitely started really strong and got weaker. With some exceptions (the Foggy/Matt episode was great, even if Henson's performance was a bit shaky). And it basically limped over the finish line. Still great overall, but I think it's (as others have said) the result of having a lot of the earlier work done by Drew Goddard and having a different showrunner batting clean up.

As far as Kingpin goes, I'm not a fan of what they did during the show overall. Fisk struggling to be a good man or whatever ultimately didn't land for me. But where they ended up with him, and all of the stuff with Vanessa were great. I hope we'll be seeing an arraignment/trial/and acquittal on a technicality or something so we can see D'Onofrio's Kingpin fully unleashed on the city in Season 3...

What are you talking about people? every episode of daredevil was good and well written.And Fisk is the best villain that MCU have so far.His character had a lot of depth,and i loved moment when he decided to not lie to himself anymore, that he is a good guy,he accepted that he is bad and he hates city.

And if for you Daredevil was comicbooky (LOL) Jessica Jones will be even more with those kind of powers.

I agree it did get weaker towards the end. But I think next season will get better and I just think the costume needs huge upgrades but overall the villain was good. Other then him being a little undersized

I wonder how far the implications of what Purple Man did to Jessica will go...how dark and twisted are they allowed to go?

murr, I kind of don't care about any promotional stuff anymore, and that includes trailers. The show is about 2 and a half weeks away, it seems kind of pointless to show new stuff. I mean I'm already going to watch the show, so might as well.

Loved Daredevil, I was only really disappointed in the final episode when Fisk and DD went at it. I expected it to play out differently than what we got but if was still a strong finale. Might have to give the series another watch.
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 11/5/2015, 4:21 AM
Oh yeah, seeing Fisk in the iconic white suit will be a moment to remember. They'll probably save it as a tease for the final episode in Season 2.

I agree with you about the finale, I loved the show all the way up to the end fight, I didn't hate it, the fight choreography was still good(just not up to par with the really high standard they set for themselves throughout the whole season) but it was just sort of plain, and for me it kind of dumbed Kingpin down how he was just yelling nonsensically. Underwhelming is what i would call the last episode but it was still good, it is like I said, just not the best the show offered.

Kingpin came across as a petulant baby with mommy issues, especially after his manservant died.

The whole time I was like, "Dude, you need to get a grip."
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 11/5/2015, 4:53 AM
@Battabing

Sure. And that may all be part of him becoming the menacing man-monster we know from the comics, but overall in the series, he wasn't there yet. Just like Matt wasn't really Daredevil yet. It was an entire season of origin build up.

And that's not an inherently bad thing. I honestly think D'Onofrio's Fisk is now more or less the character from the comics. While I respect the decision to do a dual-hero/villain origin, I would rather see the Kingpin in all his sinister glory (though if we do get that in season 3 or 4, then I'll just chock my opinion now to the standard impatience).

Personally I thought D"onofrio killed it as Kingpin....and when he rocks the white suit...fughetaboutitttt

@AleSir19

I understand how all the character backstory, motivation, and dialogue are good interpretations of Kingpin from the comics. I just didn't find it overly interesting, or find him that entertaining to watch. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't terrible, but I disagree with all the claims of him being one of the best MCU villains we've had to date.

As for Daredevil S1, I still really liked it overall. But I definitely agree that the first half of the season was better than the second.

I hate the generic term comicbooky. When people saying you think "like a comic book" but what people really mean is "corny". The dark and gritty tone of the of most of the episodes of the Netflix series felt more like the actual comic the series was based off. The reason the show started to feel corny during the final episode was the show runners and directors stared projecting there insecurities in to the show. They felt the consume was silly so they purposely make the reveal silly to acknowledge it. It's like a self defeating flaw I wish most of the creators of comic book movies could over come.
