Krysten Ritter On JESSICA JONES Season 2 And THE DEFENDERS

Last we heard, Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said she wasn't sure Marvel and Netflix would be able to squeeze in a second season as we build towards The Defenders, but the star of the show seems a bit more optimistic. More past the jump...

Will we see another season of Jessica Jones before the character teams up with her fellow Hell's Kitchen heroes? With another season of Daredevil coming next year, plus the Luke Cage and Iron Fist series on the way, one would assume Marvel and Netflix had their dance cards full in the lead-up to The Defenders - but if that is the case, why is Krysten Ritter unable to discuss it? It’s such a tricky thing. I’m not supposed to talk about that," the actress told THR when quizzed about a possible second season. "But I think there is lots of story left to tell with Jessica and I really love playing the character. I would love to throw on her boots and leather jacket anytime."

So from the sounds of it a second season has at least been discussed - though it is worth noting that it took less than two weeks for Daredevil season 2 to be officially announced. Even if Miss Jones doesn't return for another solo run, we will see her again in The Defenders at some point. How exactly will the misanthropic ex-superhero be convinced to return to the ways of the cape? Ritter shares some thoughts on that.

"Marvel and Netflix have proven they know what they’re doing. But it will be interesting to see how Jessica Jones fits in with those other guys because she doesn’t want to be a superhero. She doesn’t want anything to do with that. I have no idea how she’s going to be forced to team up with all of them. […] She has these powers and this innate goodness in her whether she likes it or not. So she’ll be a really valuable asset to the team. She has super strength. She can fly. Those things come in handy. (Laughs.)"

Thought season 1 was a mixed bag. There were episodes i found enthralling and others a complete snore fest. The villain a clear standout so without Tennant I have my reservations.

I think a good villain for season 2 would be Mr. Negative.

TBF i think luke will probably go a long way to persuading her to join. Also I think it's more likely to be a circumstantial thing that forces the team together with each being drawn into a specific struggle for their own reasons.

I can't see Cage throwing on an eye patch and talking to matt about the Defenders Initiative, it will be more organic

JJ was meh and don't seem interested in a S2 as S1 dragged on a bit and wasn't really entertaining

Bring on the DEFENDERS!!!

Does Jessica Jones even have any other villains? They could do the purple children but I doubt it

@jakmanuk

Marvel will probably dig through their archive of low-tier villains (probably from 60s/70s) that they never would use in film and give them a little make over and add them to her show to giver her some rogues. Also they could bring back Nuke for Season 2.

I'd watch a S2 if they did one, no doubt about that. But after S1 being the the kind of letdown it was for me personally I won't get too excited about it, not again.

All the best to Krysten Ritter, though, she did a really solid job with what she was given!

DD was a much better series IMHO without Luke in JJ that show would have been extremely hollow JJ isn't an interesting enough character to carry 13 episodes alone...

Jessica Jones bored me more than Walking Dead season 6 did. Not a joke.

JJ S1 wasn't that great, and far away from Daredevil. Pacing was a BIG issue. The plot wasn't that engaging. The storytelling too wasn't that great. And fight could have been better.

But loved the tone and almost every characters, especially JJ, Luke Cage and Killgrave. So wouldn't mind a S2 if they got the things right.

Im doubting sh will make a second season ... the first was too heavy . It wasn't about super heroes, it was all about relationships and how she handle her past ...

Luke Cage and Killgrave were the only interesting parts of Jessica Jones. And man was the finale an anti climatic piece of trash.

I thought the first season of Jessica Jones was better than Daredevil so I'm definitely down for a second season. I do wonder though how they will fit her in with the other Defenders.

FINALLY GOT NETFLIX!!! Yeah I know; "welcome to 2013", but I'm so stoked to finally watch daredevil.

Jessica Jones and her mopey ass? no where near as much, but I'll give it a go for a few episodes I guess.
KillEmAll

First of all its not a "superhero" show it's a crime noir. Second to anyone who thinks Killgrave is dead should really rewatch the finale. Neck full of enhanced stem cells+Broken neck=Chiropractic Manipulation. He's fine and will return. Third when it comes to the villain for season two there's quite a few to choose from. Nuke, Typhoid Mary or they could just borrow a villain from another character ala nuke because it worked.

Jessica Jones was great, but that's pretty much all that there was of her story. As soon as Alias was over, Marvel brushed her under the rug and only trotted her out when they needed to show Luke Cage with a wife. Her adventure is over.
But her origin should be a big part of Defenders, since I'm guessing the origins is how the heroes are all linked together.

Krysten Ritter was very good as Jessica in episodes 1-11 and GREAT in the last 2. The scenes where she's fighting Luke and says "...please don't..." showed great range. Also, the finale with the "I love you" to Trish and snapping Killgraves neck were perfect for the show; sad so many were waiting for another chitauri invaion or the like for the finale. This was always billed pre-release as a procedural private eye drama....I think it was great and can't wait for another season.

Wasn't that into the show. I found the story weak and it dragged on. No, wouldn't care if there was or wasn't a second season.

I thought they would have Coulson come in at the end of Daredevil and say something similar to what fury said in iron man. Just as a way to show the fans that it is all connected. I am curious to see how they come together as a team. I'm hoping Kingpin has something to do with it.

I think they'll come together in a lawsuit dealing with their origins.
Matt and Jessica were both in accidents involving a Rand truck carrying waste. Luke was one of their experiments. Danny's company is the one making the toxic supersoldier juice. They'll all meet when Murdock faces off against Hogarth in a trial against Rand, and Hogarth will send Jessica as her investigator to dig up dirt on Murdock.

It looks like the Cage series has paired Luke with Claire, so I don't think a baby will happen anytime soon. We'll have to wait for Claire to get killed off first.

I enjoyed Jessica Jones more than daredevil. I watched it in two days while daredevil took me a month.
