LOKI Season 2 Producer Explains That Bonkers Miss Minutes Twist As New Spoiler Stills Are Released

Loki season 2 producer Kevin Wright has broken down the latest episode's big Miss Minutes twist, explaining how the show's creative team approached what proves to be an unexpected origin story for the A.I.

Miss Minutes quickly became a hit with fans when she was introduced during Loki's first season, though it soon became clear there was more to the Time Variance Authority's mascot than initially met the eye.

Those suspicions were confirmed in the finale when she confronted Loki and Sylvie at the Citadel of the End of Time, and she's since accompanied Ravonna Renslayer on a mission He Who Remains tasked her with before his death. However, last night's "1893" revealed that she had her own motivations for tracking down Victor Timely: she's in love with Kang.

You can learn more about the A.I.'s origin story here, but Loki executive producer Kevin Wright broke down the twist during a recent interview with Marvel.com.

"At the end of Season 1, we know she's kind of duplicitous and she's got a bigger plan going on," he teases. "But I think it was intriguing to play with, what is that plan? Why is she doing it? In Episode 3, when she speaks to Victor Timely about the past that they had, I think it's really kind of moving."

"It's weird, you get she's an artificial intelligence, but there is some kind of maybe consciousness there that she's had these experiences, and she kind of longs for this connection again."

"Is her programming [written] to make that loyalty for him? Or, as she says, she was given the free will to write her own programming?" the producer continues. "Is this a naturally growing kind of emotion that she's having? I just think that's a cool space creatively to sit in. And of course, when she's rejected, she'll go off the rails. That's fun, too, because she's vindictive."

Fans were shocked to see Miss Minutes declare her love for Victor and it was an undeniably weird moment none of us saw coming. There was also a creepy and sinister undertone to the scene which Wright admits wasn't always there.

"There's a version where it's really silly. But it was always really playing it to her real, genuine emotions. It is unsettling, but also, it's kind of heartbreaking. When you talk about it in a writers' room, it's very funny. But then going, all right, how do we actually pull this off - that was the trick."

There have been rumblings about Miss Minutes playing a role in the next two Avengers movies and it definitely feels like she's being set up as a major player in the MCU. Even if this iteration is ultimately destroyed, there must be another Kang in the Multiverse who can create another version!

So is the show setting up Miss Minutes as the big bad who created Kang? That… sucks.

Yeah. So plot hole or plot suspicion — she can also just resurrect Ultron or use Ultron's blueprints for Vision.

@SonofaWonka - I'm sure Ultron would dig her... a lot.

OT:

Saw Killers of the Flower Moon last night - it's a masterpiece.

@mountainman

It's amazing, man. Hope it's in theaters long enough for people to get a chance to see it. People thought The Irishman was a slog and I get that but this was so well paced and it's a devastating story. Hard not to get pissed off or emotional at what you're witnessing on screen.

DeNiro is the best he's been in a long time. He was amazing - the whole cast was from the lead actors to the supporting. Check it out in theaters if you can! The two boys I went with agreed that it was their favorite of the year, too. No one's better than Marty when it comes to bad men doing bad things.

@regularmovieguy - it’s incredible but I gotta agree with the consultant on the film who said it would’ve benefited being from Ellie perspective but only an Osage could’ve done that. What Scorsese did is still insane and seeing it from Leo’s characters perspective speaks to something specific.

@GhostDog

I was in bed when I was about to watch that interview… figured I would give it a look after I saw the movie. I actually went into the movie thinking it was going to be from Elle’s perspective. And when we did go to her I always had a feeling of dread in my stomach. She was incredible.

Really enjoying this second season so far and the first season was hands down my favorite Disney+ series (not a high bar)

@TheLobster - I think you have it backwards. Marvel Studios set the bar so high some of you expect every single project to be a masterpiece. There certainly isn't another CBM studio doing it better...

@Tonic24k - Or you may be allowing a bias to shade your view. As an example, I never thought every single product was a masterpiece at all. I think about half of them don't work as well as others make them seem. I've always had criticisms of the MCU since Captain America and The Avengers. That doesn't make some of the new products not poorer than some of what came before.

I think Sony's Spider-Verse movies have pretty much vastly surpassed MCU in quality right now, so I think MCU isn't doing better.

@dagenspear - No bias here. I mean, I'm a fan, sure. But just statistically speaking, Marvel Studios has had unprecedented success. I also think you skewed the masterpiece bit. Of course not every film in the Infinity Saga was a masterpiece. And that's kinda the point... People are stuck on Infinity War and Endgame, forgetting that films in each phase had some underwhelming projects. The easiest to pick on being Thor 2. And at the end of the day Phase 4 collectively reviewed better than Phase 1 and 2. This is just a fact. It may surprise you...but again, that's the point I'm making. People aren't looking at any of this without THEIR biases.

As for Sony's Spider-Verse...that's 2 films compared to over 40 projects. There is no comparison there. And I personally think those films are vastly overrated. I mean, they're good; I enjoy them. But they're definitely not better than anything in the MCU's top projects. But also, Sony's OTHER universe is rather fvcking awful. They should honestly consider trading their live action efforts for other animated opportunities within Marvel.

Ravonna probably being a body Kang created for Miss-Minutes given her complaint of not having one. Wouldn't be surprising since they are lovers in the comics.

@ModHaterSLADE - are you suggesting Ravona is a robot
ModHaterSLADE
ModHaterSLADE - 10/20/2023, 4:32 PM
@Vigor - Or some kind of cloned body with Miss Minute's AI.

I think it's pretty cheap to take 2 of your professional female characters and, moreso, play them as spurned lovers, who work together for some reason, even though Miss Minutes encouraged the rejecting of Ravonna.

I didn't need a replay of scenes from the 90's Flubber movie.
