According to The Wrap, Golden Globe-winning actor Gael Garcia Bernal is set to take on the lead role in the currently untitled werewolf Halloween special coming to Disney+ from Marvel Studios. It's previously been reported that the project will be based on the Werewolf by Night character from the comic books (who has been rumoured to appear in Moon Knight for some time now).
The Halloween Special is reportedly set to begin production early next year, though we don't currently have any word on who will be stepping behind the camera to helm the project.
Nor do we know which version of Werewolf by Night will take centre stage; the first to undergo this monstrous transformation was the aptly named Jack Russell. A descendant of Lycanthropes, he eventually gains the ability to transform at will and retain his intelligence in the process.
Jake Gomez (who first appeared on the page last year), was of Native American descent and was cursed with Lycanthropy. He used his newfound powers to combat a sinister pharmaceutical company.
We're betting Bernal may have already shot something for Moon Knight, but that hasn't been confirmed at this stage. A Halloween special will go nicely with The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and is likely an indication of the sort of Disney+ content we can expect from Marvel Studios moving forward. Bernal is known for roles in Mozart in the Jungle, Babel, Coco, and Old.
