Kamala Khan was recently killed off in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, but nobody really expected her to stay dead (does anyone?), and Marvel Comics announced last week that the character will return in a new series co-written by Disney+'s Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani.
Now, a first look at four variant covers from artists Betsy Cola, Elizabeth Torque, Luciano Vecchio and Lukas Verneck have been unveiled. We also have confirmation that, along with her new-found status as a mutant, Khan will officially join the ranks of the X-Men.
The covers also give us a better look at Kamala's new black and yellow costume.

Despite this major status quo change, Vellani assures fans that Khan's Inhuman heritage will not be completely erased.
"I want to make it very, very clear that we are not reconning her Inhuman origin. That's a part of Kamala's identity that Marvel editorial and myself would very much like to keep and protect," Vellani says. "Our book will absolutely reflect all those core themes of identity that the Ms. Marvel comics have consistently explored — only now there's a whole new label that Kamala has to learn to accept. It's going to be pretty crazy."
We still don't have a release date for the first issue of Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant, but we'll be sure to keep you updated.
