The Secret Invasion finale was undeniably divisive. That was for a number of reasons, of course, and Marvel Studios' decision to turn Gi'ah into the MCU's most powerful being as a Super-Skrull has definitely raised some eyebrows.
Gravik's demise has proved she's not invincible but her story ended in a way that's left fans scratching their heads when it comes to when and where we'll next see her. For Clarke, shooting the CG-heavy battle proved to be the highlight of her time working on the Disney+ series.
"There was a part of this fight where I was on a [stunt] chariot," she recalls in an interview with Marvel.com. "Then I was doing all the running, but I wasn't actually running. I was on a chariot, which was being pulled by a car. And then my favorite bit is they put me on the wires!"
"I literally was like, this is my best day ever," Clarke adds. "I'm a theme park-riding kind of gal. Give me a trapeze. Give me a roller coaster. It felt exactly like that. I just kept giggling. I couldn't stop giggling. It was genuinely the funnest day I've ever had on set — ever, ever, ever."
While there's an awkward shot of G'ia with Drax's arm which has been poked fun at in some corners of the internet, the visual effects in the final battle were solid and Clarke did look phenomenal unleashing Captain Marvel's abilities.
However, shooting those moments - including jumping in place to simulate taking off - proved to be a tad awkward for the Game of Thrones alum.
"You just stand there, and then you got to exit the screen. You're like, well, I actually can't fly. And I'm not attached to the wires right now, so I'm just going to have to do the dumbest thing ever and just look really mean. And then jump. That's exactly it. The biggest anticlimactic move."
Clarke didn't touch on her possible MCU future in this interview, though we're hoping she isn't sidelined in the same way as Kit Harington's Dane Whitman. Fans have made it clear they're done with Marvel Studios' take on the Skrulls, so a Secret Invasion season 2 revolving around Gi'ah and Sonya Falsworth is likely off the table.
