THE WITCHER Character Portraits Focus On Anya Chalotra As Yennefer And Freya Allan As Ciri

Netflix has released the first of what will presumably be a series of character portraits for The Witcher, and they focus on the show's female leads, Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Freya Allan (Ciri)...

On the heels of the first full trailer, Netflix has released a series of character portraits for The Witcher, and these shift the focus from the Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) to the two most important people in his life, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Cirilla.

In the novels and video games upon which the series is based, Yennefer is a powerful sorceress who winds up becoming Geralt's lover - although they develop an on-again-off-again relationship as the story progresses. Ciri, meanwhile, is a fierce warrior in her own right, and an adoptive daughter of sorts to the pair.

Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski's series of fantasy novels - which have since spawned a hugely popular video game franchise - focus on monster hunters known as Witchers who develop supernatural abilities at a young age. The main character is Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary Witcher who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

The 8-episode first season will be written by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Daredevil, The Defenders, Umbrella Academy), who will also serve as executive producer and showrunner. Alik Sakharov (House of Cards, Game of Thrones) will helm a total of four episodes, while Alex Garcia Lopez (Luke Cage, Fear The Walking Dead) and Charlotte Brändström (Outlander, Counterpart) will direct two installments each.

Tell us, are you guys looking forward to The Witcher? Sound off in the usual place, and check out the portraits along with some previously released stills below.

i dont get it the witcher cg was already perfect, why not make a cg series, less money, cg actors dont get hurt....yeah yeah i know live action is wider audience but why does audience not like cg chars, they can do anything that real life cant, theyre more beautiful, they cant get hurt , they dont demand outrageous salaries etc....

@ComicBookPsycho - dude, a cg costume itself would cost nothing and a costume in real life could cost thousands of dollars, the video game im playing blade and soul i believe costed 50 million dollars but if you make it real life, even 50 billion dollars wouldnt cover it... lol and look at all the chinese cg series there are there are some series that have over 100 episodes lol

The cost of developing a competitive commercial MMORPG title often exceeded $10 million in 2003.

Why can't I find any info on who's playing Dandelion?! I see nothing promoting him and he's definitely a major player in the early books. I'm getting scared.

Anya is STUNNING!
