ALADDIN Star Mena Massoud Is Reportedly Being Eyed To Play Live-Action Ezra Bridger In AHSOKA

We've been hearing chatter about a live-action Ezra Bridger coming to Disney+ for a while now, and a new report indicates that Mena Massoud (Aladdin) is high up on Lucasfilm's list. Read on for details...

It was originally reported that Lucasfilm was planned an animated sequel series to Star Wars Rebels, finally revealing what happened to Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn. The Mandalorian's second season set the stage for that story to play out, but the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Ahsoka Tano's live-action debut seemingly changed plans (and Ahsoka will now serve as that sequel).

This means Lucasfilm will need to find actors to play both Ezra and Thrawn, and we may finally know who the studio wants for the former.

According to the reliable folks over Kessel Run Transmissions, Aladdin star Mena Massoud is the current frontrunner to play Ezra in the Disney+ series, which would be stellar casting decision on Lucasfilm's part. We've been waiting to see what would come next for the actor after his star-making turn in Guy Ritchie's live-action Disney movie, and playing this Jedi could put him on the map in a big way.

It's no secret that Lucasfilm has been on the hunt for a diverse actor to play Ezra, and with Dave Filoni in charge of Ahsoka, he clearly sees something special in Massoud to zero in on him for the role.

Nothing is official yet, of course, but we'll hopefully have much more to share with you soon.

@Kingdork - This kid would be a young Leonardo Dicaprio or Heath Ledger if he was white. Sorry but people saying Hollywood isn't racist. Well prime example.

@aresww3 - Your comparing this guy to DiCaprio? Please don’t insult DiCaprio just to make a point.

@Tsunvalley @minato808 @dagenspear I meant in looks guys. Calm the [frick] down. I meant he's a good looking kid.

He's handsome in the feminine heart throb way that if he were a white boy that handsome, you best believe he'd be getting more roles after being in a billion dollar movie.

Maybe I should have mentioned Ryan Phillipe, to get my point across. But I thought Heath Ledger, certainly before Joker and Broke back Mountain was seen mostly as a dreamy teen heart throb. No one thought of him as a serious actor. Mena has a long way to go to prove he's anything like as phenomenal a talent as Leo or Heath.

@aresww3 - what do you think fan casting it’s racist fans picking people on looks not experiance

@dragon316 - Can you clarify the question? I don't quite understand what you mean.

I don't think it's anything to do with experience why people get acting roles in Hollywood. Its mainly contacts. I don't think it's some racist agenda on the majority of people who are doing the hiring. I'd put it more down to nepotism and thoughtlessness.

If it were down to talent and experience, then actors like Garry Oldman, Viola Davis and Daniel Day Lewis should get just about every role.

My point with this young man is usually the trajectory of a white actor is, star in a billion dollar grossing movie, then people start looking for and even creating roles for you to star in, especially when you look like Mena. He's a handsome boy and has shown himself to be at the very least a decent actor.

I did a short video on the Supergirl casting you can look at for my views on race bending.

I can see it. Is Kessel Run Transmissions reliable though? I have seen them reporting stuff before, but don't know if that was any accurate

visually very fitting. Also he's really not that bad of an actor, he did his best with the material in Aladdin (even though the movie was really lackluster).
Hope this pans out for him, Disney usually takes care of their own.

@Blergh - Well, Magnusson did get an Aladdin spin-off before Aladdin 2 has even been announced, and Mena still can't find meaningful work.
