OBI-WAN KENOBI: [SPOILER] Bids Farewell To Their Character Following Surprise Exit

Yesterday's episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi was memorable for a few reasons, but the departure of a certain character really stood out. Now, the actor who plays them has taken to Twitter to say their goodbyes.

This week's episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi delivered several surprising plot developments, but it was the heroic demise of Imperial defector Tala Durith (Indira Varma) that came as the biggest shock for many fans.

While helping Kenobi and the (presumably) soon-to-be Rebel refugees mount a defence against Reva (Moses Ingram) and her approaching forces, Tala and her loyal loader droid NED-B sacrificed themselves in an effort to give their friends time to escape. After uttering her parting words to Ben ("may the Force be with you"), Tala detonated a grenade and took out a swathe of Stormtroopers with her final act.

Earlier in the episode, the former "Imp" explained her heartbreaking reasons for turning her back on the Empire to Kenobi, confessing to her part in the execution of four Force-sensitive families - six children among them.

After this emotional moment we probably should have seen Tala's death coming, but fans had generally assumed that the character would stick around for more adventure in the galaxy far, far away, maybe even as a love interest for the former Jedi Master.

While people have been known to come back from the dead in the Star Wars universe, Tala's end was pretty definitive, and Varma has now bid farewell to her character.

The actress  responded to a social media post from a member of the show's wardrobe department, who revealed that "the whole crew was in tears when we shot tonight’s scene."

What did you guys make of Tala's exit and this episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi overall? How do you see next week's season finale playing out? Drop us a comment down below.

Anakin slaughtering kids without hesitation and then telling Obi Wan with a straight face that "from his point of view...the Jedi are evil" never made a lick of sense to me

I liked Tala mainly due to Varma who is always good

Her sacrifice, along with her droid's, was a highlight of the episode for sure. Very well done, and it certainly hit the right emotional and impact note.

I'll be straight with you, her death scene got to me a little. And I didn't expect that to happen seeing I haven't been head over heels for anything in the show so far.

@Fares - Me too. It was a great example of how music, pacing and shot selection can create a bigger impact than might be expected.

@Waddles - watch that happen in the finale unironically.

This show has a lot of great ideas, hampered by its budget and an unrefined script. It feels more like a solid first draft of a script than a fully produced final product. Disney also should have gone for an HBO-level budget.

If we get a season 2, which we very well may, they def need either longer eps or more eps or BOTH.

Better episode but SPOILERS

1) some of the de-aging of Anakin just wasn’t good enough
2) why would Bail Organa send in a transmission to Obi Wan ANYTHING that mentions Luke or the “children” or Tatooine. The Empire could be monitoring.
3) Christensen is just not broad enough in the shoulder to play Vader in the suit, and he absolutely doesn’t have the walk down. He walks entirely too fast. (And don’t tell me it’s because he’s younger) His cybernetic legs would not get slower as he gets older.
4) why didn’t Vader or the other Grand Inquisitor kill Reva? Because she had to be the tragic hero…..as I predicted after the second trailer.
Disney would never make basically the only black woman the irredeemable villain in a show filled with white make main characters.
5) unless she does in the next episode look for her to have her own show one day, or absolutely team up with Obi San in season 2 somehow.
6) Of anybody was going to kill her it would be the Grand Inquisitor. His entire mission is to exterminate the Jedi.
7) the makeup of the Grand Inquisitor looked better in this episode
8) the CGI on Vader pulling that ship down was terrible though the power was cool….BUT….Why didn’t he pull down the Millenium Falcon on Hoth if he was that strong? The Falcon was way smaller.
9) Vader blocking Reva’s saber was cool and what I wanted Palpatine to do instead of using a silly light saber which originally was not a Sith weapon, only Vader’s.

Better episode, but they are still doing things that make no sense.
