RUMOR MILL: Darth Vader Will Reportedly Also Appear In Disney+'s OBI-WAN KENOBI TV Series

A recent edition of "Rumor Mill" here on CBM revealed that Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker may appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and a new report doing the rounds today says that we'll also see Darth Vader!

Is another iconic Star Wars character being lined up for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+?

According to a report shared by Full Circle Cinema, rumor has it Darth Vader will also be making an appearance. This news comes days after it was claimed that Hayden Christensen has signed on for a lead recurring role as Anakin Skywalker in the show. How large of a role the Sith Lord will play isn't addressed, though a cameo appearance of some sort was to be expected.

By the time we caught up with "Ben Kenobi" in A New Hope, he was well-aware of Darth Vader's existence, so something must have happened during the years he was isolated on Tatooine to facilitate that.

A face-to-face confrontation is doubtful, but Kenobi could see Vader from a distance or in a vision of some sort. The villain certainly isn't the first classic Star Wars character to be rumoured for the show, as a young Luke Skywalker and older Jar Jar Binks have both also been mentioned.

Deborah Chow is directing Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Army Of The Dead scribe, Joby Harold, wrote the latest version of the series after Lucasfilm decided to go back to the drawing board last year.

@BlackBeltJones - I still can't believe that Anakin is a younger Vader, he just abruptly starts killing kids after being a good person for most of the movie. Did I miss something?

Really shouldn't we saw the end of his story in Star Wars Rebels.
He didn't know where Obi-Wan was until that episode.

@dracula - I think you're confusing Vader with Maul?

@captainireland - oh my mistake, although outside of the rebels thing, its still true, Vader wouldn't know were Obi-Wan is and if Vader actually went back to tatooine he would have sensed Obi-Wan

@dracula - I agree. I don't think Vader and Obi-Wan should come face to face between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

@captainireland - I disagree. The dual between them in that movie was filmed before Vader's backstory had been worked out. It was really just a former master/student clash.

After the creation of the backstory, and especially the ST we learn there was a lot more bad blood between them. I think that the clash between them in that movie should be redone, or a new one created to reflect that.

Anakin/Vader absolutely HATED Kenobi: he wasn't just former student. He cut off his legs and let him burn.

Only thing I want to see JarJar in is the obits. Have one of the episodes play out like a snuff film for that character and it’ll break the internet.

@lawndart -

Dark, but good. Feed him to the Sarlac in the first few minutes and have everyone else just shrug and walk away. The rest of the episode sees him digested alive for 1000 years in time lapse.

@Goldboink - Only way that could be better would be if Fett pushed him in

Why is this article written as if Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker are different people??

I get that you probably mean that he will appear as both regular Anakin Skywalker and as a suited-up Darth Vader, but the way you have written it genuinely makes you sound utterly clueless.

@528491 - because people are still under the misguided impression that avder and anakin are two different people using the "certain pint of view" argument to this day

Ah yeah! Can we get some Rogue One type of badassery too?!?

They may as well throw everything at it. The sequel trilogy left nothing as sacred now. Nothing left to lose

@TheManWithoutFear - agree throw it all in the pot.

A hefty portion of this series will probably revolve around Vader's search for Kenobi.

@Mansuper - could be a good vehicle for introducing new characters and locations.

$100 says that there are plenty of instances where we see Christiensen as Vader with his helmet off.

Lots to like here all of a sudden. Nothing that I recall either Kenobi or Vader saying in the OT would exclude them meeting off planet or fighting. Vader was maybe only a "student" of the dark side at this point not the "master" he had become by New Hope. Points of view and all. Man I still wish JJ and RJ hadn't destroyed the future of this world so completely. Still this show sounds super fun, pay them already.

Ewan was good as Obi Wan but I never got the need for this series. Yoda literally told him to go into hiding and A New Hope makes it clear he's a hermit. Anything exciting enough to put in a series would probably put him right on Vader's radar.

I sign up for that. Although I rather see him make an appearance in Bad Batch, here is definitely welcome too

Anything to make me forget the sequels. Took me some time but I now see Episode 7-9 for what it is....NOT CANON.

@JH24 - more like bad fan fiction written with a killer budget

What if Disney just said [frick] it and used this Kenobi series and had the cast of Solo come back as well as casting a new Luke and Leia(RIP CF) and retell the story of the OT and change the future so the story of the sequel trilogy would no longer be canon. How would people react????

It would make sense for Darth Vader to appear somewhere because he is part of the story even if the two characters do not cross paths.
