Yesterday, we got word that Rosario Dawson had joined the cast of The Mandalorian Season 2 as none other than Ahsoka Tano, and now some new details have come to light.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the news, and suggested that Dawson's role could lead to a spinoff show for the fan-favorite Jedi. It's only the briefest of hints, but it sounds like Dawson's episode(s) could serve as a backdoor pilot for an eventual Ahsoka Tano series. Deadline's report mentions that Dawson will not be a series regular.
Ahsoka was introduced in The Clone Wars animated series as Anakin Skywalker's Jedi apprentice, before returning as a major supporting player in Star Wars Rebels. Fans have been clamoring for a live-action take on the character for many years.
How Tano will be integrated into the plot remains to be seen, but there's a decent chance it'll have something to do with the Darksaber we saw Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) wield in the Season 1 finale. That blade was the property of Sabine Wren in Rebels, and in the series finale of that show Aksoka joined forces with Wren to track down Ezra Bridger. Sabine also happens to be a Mandalorian, and there's speculation that she may feature alongside the Jedi.
Are you guys looking forward to seeing Ahsoka in live-action? What do you think about Dawson's casting? Let us know in the comments.
