Yesterday, we got word that Rosario Dawson had joined the cast of The Mandalorian Season 2 as none other than Ahsoka Tano, and now some new details have come to light.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the news, and suggested that Dawson's role could lead to a spinoff show for the fan-favorite Jedi. It's only the briefest of hints, but it sounds like Dawson's episode(s) could serve as a backdoor pilot for an eventual Ahsoka Tano series. Deadline's report mentions that Dawson will not be a series regular.

Ahsoka was introduced in The Clone Wars animated series as Anakin Skywalker's Jedi apprentice, before returning as a major supporting player in Star Wars Rebels. Fans have been clamoring for a live-action take on the character for many years.

How Tano will be integrated into the plot remains to be seen, but there's a decent chance it'll have something to do with the Darksaber we saw Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) wield in the Season 1 finale. That blade was the property of Sabine Wren in Rebels, and in the series finale of that show Aksoka joined forces with Wren to track down Ezra Bridger. Sabine also happens to be a Mandalorian, and there's speculation that she may feature alongside the Jedi.

Are you guys looking forward to seeing Ahsoka in live-action? What do you think about Dawson's casting? Let us know in the comments.

I hope we get a spinoff. I really like Ashoka.

Sabine gave the Darksaber to Bo Katan, if I am not mistaken.

@WackyBantha - Guess her reign over Mandalore didn't last long

Rosario Dawson is a great choice, but they could have just gotten Ahsoka's voice actress, she has done live action in the past and she looks the role,

@dracula - I agree, I don't see the reason why Ashley Eckstein could not be used.

But it is what it is I guess. Rosario Dawson is really good so hopefully she is the next best choice. Looking forward to seeing Ahsoka in live action.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Plus they used Ashley's voice in live action movies already. Like I said Rosario is a good choice, so it's not too bad, it's not like in Independence Day when they replaced Mae Whitman when they replaced her with a more atractive actress who couldn't act

@dracula - at this point, who knows how big of a role she will have in season 2.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Doubt it will be a major role, id expect 1 or 2 episodes at the most. Who they should bring in is Cad Bane.

@LordWaldo - Sucks that it's not one of the episodes they are finishing for the final season of clone wars, considering all we have of that is a scene, I wouldn't mind it if they ignored it

I would like this but let’s just see where her on the Mandalorian leads. One step at a time.

Although her live-action appearance is definitely awesome, I hope that, if there is gonna be a spin-off, it is an animated one (maybe also focusing on Sabine as well)

It's gonna be so jarring seeing Ahsoka in live-action.
