There's been a long wait for Disney+ in the UK, but the popular streaming service finally arrives in the country on Tuesday, March 24th. It will boast pretty much everything the American version does (and a few things it doesn't), but Disney has now shed some light on plans for The Mandalorian.
The first two episodes will be available on the 24th, while the third then follows on the 27th. That's not too bad - and quite a bit quicker than the way it was rolled out in the States - but from there, the next five chapters will hit weekly.
Star Wars fans in the UK have already had to wait since last November to watch The Mandalorian, so this is definitely going to come as a blow. However, Disney is a business, and it simply makes sense to release episodes weekly rather than letting fans binge-watch it over the course of one weekend and then unsubscribe immediately afterwards!
The Clone Wars is being handled in a similar fashion, but it's not all bad news.
Two episodes are being released at launch, with a further two on the 27th. Then, two weeks will be shared each week so that UK fans catch up with the US by April 10th. From there, it will be one episode per week, and Disney actually deserves some credit for helping the Brits catch up to quickly!
It's not an ideal situation, but there are good reasons Disney+ has launched later in the UK than everywhere else (licensing issues, mostly), and things should be normal from here.
Are you guys planning to subscribe to Disney+ next week?
