At the beginning of this season of The Mandalorian, Din Djarin was tasked with figuring out a way to return to Mandalore so he could regain his status as a, well, Mandalorian.
To do so, he needed to visit the bowels of a planet he'd been led to believe was poisonous and decided to try and restore IG-11, one of the only droids he could actually trust, to see if the atmosphere was safe. Unfortunately, his old ally was damaged beyond repair, with not even the talented Anzellans on Nevarro able to bring him back online.
Well, in the latest instalment - titled "The Spies" - Greef Karga surprises Din and Grogu with IG-12.
The former bounty hunter has been completely stripped down, with his memory removed and any risk of him losing control again no longer a concern. Instead, the droid can now be piloted by a creature around Grogu's size. Din is initially reluctant, but The Child wastes no time in taking control of his new mode of transportation...and using its "Yes" and "No" buttons!

For the rest of the episode, Grogu controls "IG-12" and now has a means of not only getting around without his floating crib but to get physical when necessary.
We don't get to see too much of that here, but he is able to step in when things get heated between Axe Woves and Paz Vizsla. It's a massive status quo shift for the character and one that should see him become far more hands-on in future battles.
Given how things end in this "The Spies" (we'll have more to share with you about that soon), something tells us this has come right in the nick of time.
