Something happens in Spider-Man: No Way Home that brings villains from other worlds into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, hence why Peter Parker finds himself battling the likes of Doctor Octopus and Electro. Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene also brought Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock into that reality, though we don't know if he'll appear in the upcoming threequel.
We're banking on getting something (even if it's just another tease or reference), but Tom Holland wasn't willing to give too much away during a recent interview with Total Film.
"I genuinely don't know," he responded after being asked what the stinger might be leading to. "It was really exciting to be a part of that film. Obviously, Tom Hardy is one of the greatest actors in the world. I'm happy to say that he's a lovely bloke. But I haven't really given it very much thought."
Holland probably has a rough idea of what the future holds in store for Spider-Man beyond No Way Home, though he has previously confirmed that his contract for these solo outings will end with this instalment. A clash with Venom is inevitable, though, and that scene was clearly meant to set the stage for the Lethal Protector to target the web-slinger.
Hopefully, Spider-Man: No Way Home will explain why Peter Parker was standing around the Big Apple unmasked for Eddie Brock and Venom to see that news report, though!
