VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Isn't Actually That Much Shorter Than 2018's VENOM

Much has been said about Venom: Let There Be Carnage's "90-minute" runtime, but the sequel's confirmed length reveals that it's only actually a little shorter than 2018's Venom. Read on for details...

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is fast approaching, and much has been said about the sequel's scant 90-minute runtime. It's rare for a superhero blockbuster like this one to clock in at under 2 hours, but some newly surfaced details confirm that the movie might not be quite that short after all.

According to insider Amit Chaudhari (who has proven himself a reliable source for trailer and runtime information), the exact length of Venom: Let There Be Carnage is, in fact, 1 hour and 37 minutes. That means it's only 15 minutes shorter than 2018's Venom, a movie that ran for 1 hour and 52 minutes.

The runtime above does include the mid-credits scene and the credits themselves, so there's no denying that this is a relatively brief Marvel Comics adventure for Eddie Brock and company.

Director Andy Serkis recently shed some light on the decision to go with a shorter runtime, saying that "we always wanted this film to be a real thrill ride...And a fast, muscular...not hanging around too much with exposition."

Only time will tell whether this shorter runtime is beneficial or a detriment to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but it sounds like Serkis gave it a lot of thought. It should also pay off for Sony Pictures from a financial standpoint, as this means the movie can play on a greater number of screens, thereby increasing how much money the sequel makes on a daily basis in theaters.

We'll have more to share with you on this one soon, so keep checking back here for updates.
