Are WB considering basing the Batman reboot on the Arkham game series?

Are WB planning on basing their Batman reboot on Rocksteady's Arkham video game series and what are their plans for Green Lantern?

Cosmic Book News have stated the Batman reboot, thought to be titled "The Batman", could be based on the Arkham games. The site has claimed to have sources close to WB and have in the past posted several rumors around WB's plans on the DC shared universe.

They also say that WB are currently leaning towards a fresh reboot of Green Lantern with a new actor playing Hal Jordan.

It is unknown how reliable this source is, however a Batman based on Rocksteady's Arkham games could provide a perfect blend between the dark and serious tones of Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy and the fantastical aspects needed for a shared DC universe.

The Arkham games are considered huge successes, with Arkham City winning game of the year in 2011 and Arkham Asylum receiving no less than a 9/10 in all major reviews. Using this Batman could prove to be a good move for DC as it is an incarnation of the character which a lot of people are aware of and would require less development in a Justice League movie. What do you think?

IF!!!....this happens and that is a BIG IF!!...
IF they do it based off the video games...i will love DC...hopefully they base it EXACTLY!!! like it!! obv. its a movie so some things would be cut out...but if so i want killer croc!! in that!!!

and they def. need to make it a shared/open universe....

Green Lantern...IF they decide to reboot it!..fine i dont care...new actor fine i dont care...if they decide to go on and just do a sequel and keep ryan i am fine with that too...if they decide to reboot and wanna use ryan again i am also fine with that..

Glad to hear they're still gonna give Hal Jordan another shot.
But it shouldn't do the origin again. Same for Batma. Batman Begins is a perfect Batman origin movie. It would be way too soon.
It was way too soon for The Amazing Spider-Man. We need to learn from that. That film performed well, but not as well as it should have. Especially with critics. The major consensus is that it is better than the Raimi original (although not all agree on that) but that it is still a needless reboot. It's the same movie that we saw 10 years ago. Just a bit better. Let's not do that with Batman.
I say [frick] it. In Nolan we trust, right? Lets continue the franchise by following the path that he has cleared.
Lets have a John Blake Batman movie. [frick] it, y'know? Okay, so he's not from the comics or anything, but really, Nolan has earned it.
It's not like we can go back and do a John Blake Batman flick after doing another Bruce Wayne origin movie. It's just the right way around.
Whether a John Blake movie becomes it's own succesful trilogy or whether the first one doesn't go down well, it would be a lot easier to go back and do the Bruce Wayne origin again after either one of these scenarios.
If they don't like the John Blake movie they'll be all like "The franchise is [frick]ed! Give us a reboot!" If they do like it, they'll be ready for Wayne again after a John Blake trilogy. You could easily do a Bruce Wayne movie only two years after the final John Blake movie without people thinking it too soon.

Besides, I've been thinking about this whole orphanage thing. I didn't like it at first, but now I'm thinking that it would be a good way to get all the other characters in there. It worked for X-Men.
Imagine it: John Blake is Batman and is taking care of business in Gotham City, working in the Batcave, below the Wayne Orphanage. Some of the older orphans help Blake out as part of his team of vigilantes:
Dick Grayson as Nightwing.
Jason Todd as Red Hood.
Tim Drake as Red Robin.
Stephanie Brown as The Spoiler.
Barbara Gordon could have gone back to live with her father, now that she's older and also joins up as Batgirl. Jim could be retiring, Dark Knight Returns style.
A vigilante movement could even lead to a version of Dark Knight Returns Sons of Batman.
Imagine the Mutants in the film. A squadron of Man-Bats. The Court of Owls. Maybe even Damien Wayne/ Damien Head. Or THe Huntress.
Bring it right up to date with the comics, don't drag out another origin. Give the comics fans something they can recognise. Killer Croc and other less-realistic more fantastic elements would seperate this from the Nolan trilogy whilst still being connected.

If this is true and they model the next Batman reboot off of the Arkham games, that would be the definitive Batman movie......where it actually pays homage and respect to the source material all the while not a campy piece of garbage that Returns, Forever, and &Robin was.

Imagine all the fun a JG John Blake would have with his new-found wealth in the reboot. As Batman he could have a more Batman Beyond-esque costume, too. Could be awesome.

The next Bane should be like Bane from the comics, not from TDKR.

Im not going to trust this news but I think we are all in agreement that WB needs to take the Arkham games into account as the influence for the next Batman reboot. The Arkham games had the best plot, they were influenced completely by the comics, they had the right mix of seriousness and comic book-ness (yeah its word now! lol) plus they took every thing that was great about Burton's movies and Nolan's movies and put them into a game

I love Nolans movies but I dont want to see a continuation with Blake or see the ending of the Dark Knight Rises ruined with Bruce Wayne returning to the role

oh and one more point: NO [frick]ING ORIGIN MOVIE! Everyone knows Batman's origin by now, just put his origin in the opening credits (maybe with an epic voiceover by Kevin Conroy) and jump straight into the movie with Batman kicking the shit out of some criminals. Then introduce Robin and by the end of it, Batman agrees to train him which will provide the basis for the sequels. Seriously, no origin, and this is coming from someone who is happy that next years Superman movie is an origin

Oh and DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! I want this to be the very last reboot for another 80 years if at all possible (I know Im being too enthusiastic there lol)

and no Green Lantern reboot, just get a new director who will direct Ryan Reynolds to be a lot more serious this time around and make a big space epic, thats it!

Green Lantern : No. [frick] that noise. Don't even know why people thought GL could even produce an interesting movie.
Batman : Yes. But rather lean towards the 90s Animated Series as a lot of the reference as well.
