Bethesda Is Meeting With Studios For A FALLOUT Movie

Bethesda Game Studios is apparently meeting with various Hollywood studios about a Fallout video game movie but the AAA video game developer hasn't head a pitch they've liked...yet.

Could a Fallout video game movie be in the future of Bethesda Game Studios? Fallout IV was recently released last November and sold 12 million units and generated $750 million dollars in revenue...in just the first 24 hours.  Arguable the game of the year, perhaps the next frontier for Fallout to conquer is in the realm of cinema?

Executive producer Todd Howard recently revealed that Bethesda has been meeting with various studios to discuss that very possibility.  "We’ve had a couple of in-roads, particularly with Fallout, which is a bit stickier than Elder Scrolls, but everybody’s kind of asked and I’ve taken a number of meetings over the years and nothing quite clicked....I would say we have a pretty high bar as far as what we would want it to be if it ever happened and nothing’s quite clicked."

Interestingly enough, a script for a Fallout movie actually exists.  Back in 1998, Bethesda actually formed its own, internal company to develop its IPs for film. Titled Interplay Films, Brent V. Friedman (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) penned a script which can actually be downloaded and read, HERE.

Do you want to see a Fallout film? Who do you think would look good in a Vault suit?

Weren't they fine with Uwe Boll directing Fallout all those years back or was that just an unfounded rumor? Regardless: high bar my ass.

This doesn't seem like a great idea...But if it HAS to happen, it better friggin have Ron Perlman in it or its an instant fail.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Could be worse.

Could be a Bioshock fan who's film would've happened if Watchmen was never made or made money at the box office.

The beautiful concept art of Bioshock still [frick]ing hurts. I want that movie so bad.

@LEVITIKUZ - I second this. My suggestion is that they make an animated film first. It'd give fans new content to digest and give film companies a way to gauge public interest. Similar to what DC has done with their animated films.

@Marxman12 - that is an amazing idea dude. Bioshock animated ftw.

I don't think this is a good idea. I love Fallout but I got a bad feeling about this.

Now if someone will [frick]ing do a Bioshock movie...

@LEVITIKUZ - Bioshock is the best video game to adapt into a movie, especially Infinte

I think this would be better suited as a series on Netflix. Awful lot to draw from for a 2 hour movie.

Fallouts world has a lot of Factions they can make a very deep and intresting story but the satire and quirk is something that QT can tackle the best

The only thing they should take from fallout is the 1950's future aesthetic, the story should be entirely original

So a majority of the movie going to be collecting junk and doing endless tasks for the minute men

Can't somebody suck this dude off so we can get this movie?

I reckon it would be better as a TV show than a movie.

Cool. Look to the first game for story inspiration, and get someone like Paul Verhoeven or Sam Raimi to direct. Can't think of anyone else who would find the right balance between the drama and the quirky satire that the original games had without making it too over-the-top.

Oh, and please give it a total downer ending. Fallout 1 had one of my favourite endings of any video game.

If Obsidian ain't involved, what's the point? Also, a New Vegas movie would be fantastic.

GOOD. The last thing I want is another studio [frick]ed video game movie. Bioware should be taking notes.

I don't want my precious Mass Effect and Fallout being destroyed by stupid hollywood execs
