Let’s be honest when it comes to news like we have seen for the next Batman game, we have no idea what to expect. Dini isn’t coming back for the next game and rumor has it we have this Silver Age prequel. I’m going to focus on the present and future. As most people know, I’m a huge fan of Rocksteady’s Batman series. I’m not going to focus on this prequel game but instead focus on a sequel to Arkham City. As we all are debating on what we want to see in third game, I’m going to look inside my crystal ball and tell you 10 things that will happen. Let’s begin…

1. KEVIN CONROY WILL RETURN AS BATMAN

This is a no brainer. I really don’t need to explain it. Conroy will return to voice Batman. He voiced Batman in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

2. Riddler Will Return

Rocksteady is a big fan of including riddles in their game. We have seen riddles from the Riddler in both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Fans also loved what Rocksteady did with Riddler making him more like Jigsaw from the Saw series.

3. The Game Will Take Place In Gotham

Rocksteady is running out of places for settings. First we ha Arkham Asylum. Then we had a section of Gotham called Arkham City. There is no way to go for a sequel other than Gotham. Gotham will be free roam. Imagine how big Gotham will be. It will take days to think a Riddle trophy.

4. Nightwing, Robin, And Catwoman Will Be Return, Will Be Playable, And Will Be Involved In The Story, And Will Have Free Roam

You can't introduce playable characters in a game like this and not have them come back. Catwoman, Nightwing, and Robin will return and be playable. They will also have their own stories. Catwoman had her own story in Arkham City so why not think of another one for her? Robin had his story in Harley Quinn's Revenge. Nightwing was the only one left out. It's also likely that they will be able to free roam around Gotham. Console gamers were upset at the fact you couldn't do that n Arkham City but PC gamers found a waya to play as Nightwing and Robin in free roam.

5. Gang War

The only thing I was disapoinnted with in Arkham City was that it seemed like their would be a gang war but that never happeed. Black Mask will be involved next game without a doubt since he had no part in this game. Also the Falcone family will likely return. They left Gotham so they wouldn't be in Arkham City and will return. Add Two-Face and Penguin's gang, and we got a full city gang war.

6. Huntress WIll Be Fully Introduced And Playable

In an tape, we have Quincy Sharpe mentioned Huntress in an interview with Vicki Vale. It's obvious she exists in this universe because she is mentioned. Huntress will likely be a new playable character in the series that will be introduced in the next game.

7. And You? You Will Burn

In Azrael's meeting with Batman he said that Batman will "close the gates of hell, and you will burn.". I've been on some Arkham forums and everyone thought Batman would die. I don't see it that way. Let's think for a second. Hush is running around as Bruce Wayne, trying to destroy his life. I don't think Azrael meant Batman will burn, I think he meant Bruce Wayne will burn.

8. Scarecrow To Be The Main Villain

There are way to many easter eggs involving Scarecrow. He taunts Batman through cryptographic sequencer messages, he has a hideout in Arkham City and has been in contact with the Falcone family, he has henchmen that were revealed during Protocol 10, he's wants revenge on Batman, he has fear gas in a Riddler hideout and Hush's hideout. There are way to many reasons.

9. The Joker Will Stay Dead Unless One Villain Brings Him Back

I wrote an article about this called “Editorial: There Is Only One Person Who Could Bring The Joker Back After His Death In ARKHAM CITY”. It explains who this one person is and states the real Joker died.

10. Jim Gordon Will Run For Mayor

In some concept art of the game, we see a poster telling people to vote for Gordon for Mayor. Now since Quincy Sharpe signed on and let Arkham City happen, he will likely be impeached. We need a new mayor so why not Gordon?

What are your thoughts and feelings? Comment below. Peace.

Nice writeup man! Good job!!!!!

Good article as always man. My only complaint is that you didn't say who you thought the person is that could bring back Joker. Its never a good idea to say you explained it in another article, and then not mention it in this one. It just seems like you're trying to get people to go read more of your articles.

So, who is it?

I actually hope they keep Joker dead. At least for this game. He was the main villain in the first one, and had a huge part in Arkham City.

Joker is great, but too much of a good thing can kill a character. Let someone else have the limelight for a bit.

Great write up as always Levitikuz.

It's been awhile since I played this game, but I forgot, were those cryptographics ever confirmed to be Scarecrow?

Nice write up, but half of this is you stating the obvious (specifically, the first 3, maybe 4 points), and the rest is wishful thinking, not '100% going to happen' like you've stated.

Gotham is obviously going to be the setting, although it doesn't mean the whole city - they can always think of ways to limit the playable area. Kevin Conroy is almost certain to return, but he may choose not too. And the Riddler trophies are almost certain, but they may also be replaced with something else.

There's no definitive evidence that Scarecrow will be the main villain. It's likely that he will be a major villain, but Hush is more likely to be the main villain, since it'd be a personal vendetta against Bruce Wayne and his quest to reclaim his identity. Plus, if Hush is the main villain, Riddler may be given a bigger role like he did during the Hush story arc.

The Joker is dead, and is likely to (and should) stay dead, but you never know.

The Gang War would be awesome, but it seems like wishful thinking. Also, Gordon running for Mayor seems like a bit of a leap - it was featured in Arkham City concept art, meaning it was cut from the game, which is hardly evidence it will factor into the sequel.

Those 2 games are so good. Can't wait for the sequel or prequel. Hope they go with Gotham and gang war like you said. Also it would be cool to have Superman in the game, not has a playable character but like Robin in the main story of AC.

9) Is a cop out.

This will happen ... unless this does.

I believe we will get a sequel, but seeing as WB wants to increase JL awareness in the lead-up to a JL Movie they are making the prequel, with all the characters first.

I actually think Dini will return for writing duties when they get round to making a Arkham City sequel.

@Mystery yeah, Rocksteady should definitely do a Superman game and a Flash game too.

Superman could work well in the same vein as Arkham - e.g X-Ray vision works like Detective mode, different powers like heat vision and freeze breath work like Batman's gadgets, combat works like it does in Arkham (but obviously Supes is stronger), only differences would be the 'x' button (PS3) or 'A' button (X360) would be the 'jump' button; the longer the button is held, the higher Supes jumps.
If the jump button is pressed again in midair, Supes begins to fly. Holding down some other button can activate his super speed. Only problem would be the invulnerability - they could either just tone it down and make him more susceptible to injury, or they could make an in-game reason (kryptonite weapons, magic, super-powered villains, etc)

A Flash game could also be really cool, with gameplay obviously focussed on speed. It'd be really cool if environment speed was effected too, like it changes between normal speed, slow-mo and sped-up.

In fact, now that I think of it, a Wonder Woman game could be good too - in order to make it different from the others, it could be set on Themyscira during an invasion by Wonder Woman villains and ancient greek monsters, and it could be more of a war-type game.

@LEVITIKUZ no ones saying Gordon wouldn't be a good Mayor, we're saying that you're wrong to say that it's 100% definite that he will be Mayor. It is by no means guarenteed, in fact the Mayor position might be altogether ignored in the sequel, or maybe Bruce (or Hush posing as Bruce) will become the Mayor! You have no proof that most of those things will be involved in the sequel, just ideas based on hints in the previous game, yet you're stating that they'll definitely happen.

A lot of obvious scenarios, Scarecrow def wont be the main villain,He's great in asylum but they still need the draw of a main antagonist. I have a feeling we haven't seen the end of the joker. Or who knows, maybe there wont be a continuation of the story. End it on a high note of what the studio has accomplished

I'm really hoping for a sequel to AC. There was way too many plots set up for a sequel to just leave us hanging.
I think they could segue from this game into a DC video game universe by including Superman in the storyline.

Awesome shit LEVI. I would love for #4 to happen instead of having those characters only playable for short stretches or challenge maps like in AC.

I'd like the riddler to actually be a boss who batman has to face. Have like a "riddler's lair" type thing and have him actually put up a fight against batman by having some sort of mind control device or something like that.

I would love if Rocksteady handled a Superman game. Such an innovative team when it comes to free-roam.

I'd even be satisfied w/ Activision trying their hand at it...again. But this time they have the Rocksteady model to use which they used on the ASM game which wasn't equal to the Arkham games, but you could definitely see the Rocksteady influence - which was a good thing.

Im confident that whatever time period Rocksteady sets the new Arkham/Batman game, it will be phenomenal

it would be awesome if they did a mini adaption of the animated movie under the red hood. it has black mask in it too!

IN the next Batman arkham game it would be Awesome if it could be the whole of Gotham city and we could go into Wayne manor and go into the batcave and suit up. also i would like to be able to decide if i want to roam the streets of Gotham as batman or Bruce Wayne EXAMPLE- if i was Bruce roaming the streets i would not be able to grapple and have gadgets but be able to use some of Bruce's ordinary vehicles and have side quests only if you are Bruce but if i want to switch to batman i will have to go back to the batcave/Wayne Manor to change to batman and use batmans vehicles in Gotham also we could travel by boat or batmobile or helicopter to get to arkham city or arkham asylum this is what many of us will want in a batman game.
