Fan Confronts David O. Russell About Not Casting Nathan Fillion In Uncharted!

In a video that makes for fairly uncomfortable viewing, a fan confronts the director with the question of why fan favourite Nathan Fillion wasn't cast as the popular video game character...

When it was announced that Mark Wahlberg would play Nathan Drake in the planned movie of the hit video games, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, fans were not happy. The fact that he is pretty much nothing like the popular hero as well as the news that O. Russell has a lot of new (read: ignoring the source material) ideas, makes this a very unpopular adaptation with fans. With rumours of the film having circulated for years, those same fans became very attached to the idea of Nathan Fillion playing the character. A damn good choice. Well, here's what the director had to say to that when he was put on the spot by a fairly disgruntled fan.

I'm with this guy 100%! Still, it sounds like the director did at least see an audition tape and decided just not to go with him for his take on an adaptation of the series. If this was going to be a movie faithful to the games, it's obvious that Fillion is the best pick for the role, but as mentioned above, it seems that O. Russell has his own ideas.

It's still way too early to make any sort of judgements about this movie, but I'm not a fan of anything I've heard about it so far. We can however be grateful that the third game in the series, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, is set to be released on November 1, 2011! Until then, be sure to share your thoughts on this in the usual place!
