Because Luther, it's simply BETTER as a fantasy! By taking all the magic and fantastical creatures out of it it's stripping it of what made it appealing to people in the first place. I think this re-imagining actually looks decent, but it's not Mortal Kombat. It's a martial arts/cop thriller hybrid.

def this looks so much better then both of the films!!! If anything is done right it will be a huge hit. You guys want fantasy IT IS ALL MOVIES AND TV ARE you think someone can actually put retractable blades into their arms themself? LOL I agree with Luther and Chris Nolans Batman vs. ANY of the others... c'mon his are better and they are from what u guys say realistic. Point proven if done the right way anything can work.

This series is gonna be awesome. So what if its not all fantasy. Get over it people. Take what you can get and this will probably by far be better acted and filmed than both Mortal Kombats movies combined.

yeah i have to agree with alot of you guys.... i think this shit is gonna be garbage....mortal kombat is magic, sorcery, gods.... no realistic at all... wb should just make the movie and zack snyder should just direct it.... and i swear to god if they make shang tsung a fat dude with short hair in a suit like the trailer... im done watching at first glimpse lol

actually the first MK did not sucked it was good the 2nd movie sucked. also this different approach making all the character realisitic is just dumb MK is rooted around fantasy. what next Dr Strange with no fantasy and make the character and his universe realisitic.

anyway the WB said its going to link with the video game so they keeping the fantasy.

Im happy that they are still going a fantasy route but the Rebirth short was still bad ass and just a different completely take on the series. I would have like it either way. Die hard fan boys need to get over the fact that not everything happens the way you want it.

I find it funny how they tell us not to complain about the Rebirth vision but they complain about the changes in Resident Evil or any other CBM.

Not to mention their director of cinematography mentioned on twitter that they'll be having some scenes set in Edenia which means Kitana will still be Goddess and they won't butcher Sindel or Mileena either.

@Jazzman umm not acutally I dont the first Xmen was ok the rest sucked but I formed my opinon after I watched em. All Xmen will be trash until its reverted back to Marvel.

However I did like the Rebirth verison of MK. I can like some stuff that doesnt directly adapt which in most cases and in most movies they wont. I still love the original Mortal Kombat and wish it would have another better Live Action movie. That obviously isnt happening so until then I like what I see casting wise with this and Ill reserve more judgement when I SEE the finish product.

Obviously, nobody who has commented hear read the press release for this web series. to everybodyu complaing about the realistic take with no magic, warner bros. said when that the web series would be, in so many words, a amalgam of the supernatural worlds and storyline in the game and the uber realistic one we saw in the faux trailer a few months back.

MK Rebirth had great fighting and the gore but when i saw it and the character backstory it was not good at all. Baraka a dreadlock plastic surgeon lol. felt like what FOX did to Deadpool and made him Barakapool its just so wrong on many levels. and killing Johnny Cage again that was consider the worst thing in MK video game and they did that in Rebirth.

@Jazzman...you're exactly what I'm talking about. The first one "did sucked", BACK THEN it was pretty cool, and I enjoy it for nostalgia reasons. But lets be real, it wasn't that good of a movie.

..but anywho..I KNEW with every ounce of me, someone was going to bring up FOX and X-Men! Again...fanboys, proving me right. Hope to God First Class and Mortal Kombat:Rebirth will be AMAZING pieces of film. Bet you'll still find stuff to complain about.

Here's an idea..how about you jackasses invest in a camera, and write a script, and seeing you all know everything there is to know about making movies, MAKE A MOVIE!
