New Leaked Picture Of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG's Redesigned Look Is Much Closer To The Source Material

Ever since that Sonic trailer dropped, everyone across the internet went off on how awful the superhero hedgehog looked. Now, it appears he's gotten a nice and necessary makeover...

For those out there who are huge fans of Sonic, fear no more. The CGI artists behind his upcoming movie went back to the drawing board and it seems we have a sneak peak on their creation. Of course, take it with a grain of salt, but it definitely looks legit.

Now that's Sonic. From the bigger hands with white gloves, to the larger eyes that almost bleed into each other. Whether the movie will actually be good or not, remains to be seen. However, the title character at the very least, looks much closer to his video game counterpart.

What are your thoughts on the little blue guy? Is he up to standard? Leave your thoughts down below.

Sonic The Hedgehog runs into theaters, February 14th, 2020.

I want to know the story of how and why they came up with their initial design

@Feralwookiee - I feel like Cocaine should have resulted in them going "Lets make the movie EXACTLY like the game......snifff....exactly?"

Won't help the movie in any meaningful way, but that's never stopped fans from complaining about trivial stuff before.

The movie is probably going to be garbage anyway so they should have just stuck with the old design. They are not changing any of those weird out of place scenes just polishing a turd even further before plopping it in the bucket. A movie about Sonic should have been CG animated and not live action.

@PsychoManiacJacky - I think given the amount of CGI required, I think could go photo realistic but it seems pointless to make it live action. It didn't need to take place on our Earth.
I wish they would stop doing that nonsense.
I wish they would stop trying to make the characters earn attributes they had on the very first level.

Aww that’s nice they changed it.... but let’s be real even though this is “for the fans” this ain’t going to help the film at all. If anything in some ways this is worse bc now the vfx team has to probably redo almost every visual effects shot (in a movie where the main character is CG and almost every shot is an effects shot) only for people to have already made up their mind about this movie and have it not help anything. It’s a lose lose

Looks better. I'm not sure why they went with the look that they did. It's like they try to outsmart themselves sometimes.

I don't know about that valentine's day releas date. That Issa Rae/Keith Stanfield movie getting all the money that day

There Paramount, was that so hard?

Having said that, I don't think the first trailer helped successfully sell this movie either. I mean, who the hell thought of using Gangsta's Paradise as the trailer's song??? It was a REALLY poor song choice.

I hope that with the more faithful looking redesign that Paramount fired whatever firm they used to create the trailer and found one that can edit together a proper looking Sonic movie.

If the movie has Jim Carrey's scene chewing super overacting the movie might reach that level of bad that is at least amusing to watch. I mean, we're talking full Riddler or Liar Liar.

It's funny that everyone kicked off but no one is going to see this movie lol.

The cynic in me still thinks they just animated the ‘original’ design for the trailer, to get loads of publicity that this film really wouldn’t have got otherwise. and this more classic design was always in the film.

@Twenty23Three -

Wow, the cynic in you is giving them a lot of credit, cos that would downright genius if true.
