An updated status report on the upcoming God of War TV series on Amazon Prime Video has been released by one of the executives overseeing it. Since Amazon made its first official order for the God of War TV series last month, there have been questions about its nature and its scheduled premiere date. Many fans are just curious as to who will play Kratos in the live-action adaptation, but it seems we won't have the answer for some time.

The development of God of War was briefly discussed by Sony Pictures TV Studios President Katherine Pope in a recent interview with Deadline. Pope didn't say much specifically about God of War, but she did mention that it's still very early in the series development. Pope has already expressed her admiration for the work that has been done thus far, despite the fact that this means that the show probably won't air for some time.

"There's a lot of really important IP here, we're working on God of War, the PlayStation title, which is still in the early stages. I know the game pretty well, and I'm so impressed with what they're already doing in terms of building out that world and expanding, keeping all the values of the game but also expanding it so that if you don't know the game, it's still going to be a really satisfying show on its own."

God of War might make its appearance as early as 2025, based only on the schedules of previous TV shows. The series' pre-production work will likely be completed in large part this year, which could enable filming to begin in 2024. After post-production, the show might debut the following year. This is simply my personal conjecture, but Pope has made it clear that God of War fans will have to wait a little longer for this program to be implemented. At the very least, as 2023 progresses, perhaps we'll find out more about the series' performers.

God of War is a series of action-adventure video games that David Jaffe and Santa Monica Studio, a division of Sony Interactive Entertainment, developed. The franchise began in 2005 with the release of the PlayStation 2 game of the same name, which was followed by a number of sequels and spin-offs. The protagonist of the series is the Spartan warrior Kratos, who pursues vengeance on the Olympian gods. The violent and quick-moving fighting in the games is combined with puzzle solving components and a focus on narrative. The series has grown through time into one of the most popular and well regarded video game titles, and is renowned for its epic battles, gorgeous aesthetics, and sophisticated storytelling.

After destroying the gods of Olympus, Kratos visits the world of Norse mythology in later installments of the God of War series. To provide the series new difficulties and plotlines, the setting was changed. In the new games, Kratos must reconcile his own past and the obligations of parenting with a new pantheon of deities and monsters. With the switch to Norse mythology, the show was able to explore new myths and stories and introduce new characters, such Kratos' son and traveling companion Atreus. Both fans and critics were pleased with the new setting, which has reenergized the franchise.

Are you anticipating the arrival of the iconic Kratos on the big screen? Let us know in the comments who you think should play him!

If they just take a page from how HBO has adapted The Last of Us, we'll have another solid video game adaption.

The story is laid out well in the game, truly there isn't much need to deviate.

Not starting with Greek saga sucks in my opinion. Yeah I’m sure they would be flashbacks but the journey to seeing become a better god at the end won’t be satisfying.
