Daisy Ridley Confirms TOMB RAIDER "Conversations"; But Hasn't Been Offered The 'Lara Croft' Role Yet

It was recently reported that Warner Bros. and MGM were looking at 23-year-old Star Wars: The Force Awakens standout Daisy Ridley for their planned reboot of video game adaptation, Tomb Raider, and last night at the Empire Awards the actress seems to have confirmed that she is in the running, at least.

THR caught up with Ridley at the London-based event - where she picked up the best female newcomer award - and the actress confirmed that while "conversations" have taken place, she hasn't been officially offered the role of Lara Croft.

Still, it definitely sounds like she'd jump at the chance to play the younger version of the iconic adventurer. “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it',” she said, adding that there wasn’t a script for the film yet.

Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug will helm the Tomb Raider reboot, and it was recently confirmed that his film would be based on the plot of Square Enix 2013 version which followed Croft on her first adventure.

There is no official release date yet.

She looks like a de-aged Caitlyn Jenner to me. You know I'm right.

@RorMachine - We're going to have to agree to disagree. Cheek bones, nose, and eyes all look very similar to me. Chin's different though.

It's a shame, the things bright young actresses like her have to do to get ahead in Hollywood. Hopefully her parents never find out that she had to play a video game character on film.

Nevertheless if it's anything like the reboot game, it's going to be awesome.

Yep, if it's like the reboot game and taking the film in that direction it can be amazing.

She could definitely rock this part. I'd also throw Emilia Clarke, and Emily Browning into that race.

You know after thinking about it more and more...

I want her as Tomb Raider.

But I feel that that film will only happen depending of the success of the upcoming video game movies coming out this year so one can only hope!
