RUMOR: Kathryn Bigelow Headlines Director's Shortlist For TOMB RAIDER Reboot
A new report is suggesting that Warner Bros. has narrowed down the director's shortlist for its upcoming Tomb Raider reboot to three highly successful female directors with Academy Award-winner Kathryn Bigelow headlining the rumored trio. Come check it out!
Take this news with a huge grain of salt, but The Tracking Board is reporting that Warner Bros. has narrowed down the list of potential directors for its upcoming Tomb Raider reboot to three. Those three rumored finalists are Academy Award-winner Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker), Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), and Mimi Leder (Deep Impact).
The reportedly fast-tracked reboot, a co-production between WB, MGM, GK Films, and Eidos Interactive, is said to follow a younger version of Lara Croft as she heads out on her first treasure-hunting adventure.
Bigelow would be a huge get for the film, but with her award-winning pedigree, it's a little hard to see her taking on this project, which revives the long-dormant video game-to-film franchise that previously starred Academy Award-winner Angelina Jolie (Maleficent) as the titular heroine. Leder and Hardwicke also have major big-budget films on their resumes, but it's still a little hard to picture either of them taking on this project.
