Earlier this month, Limitless director Neil Burger it was introduced as the new director of the upcoming video-game-to-film adaption of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Here are a few details from the upcoming project from Burger himself.

On the current status of the project:
"Mainly we're beginning from scratch and going back to the videogame," says Burger, who hasn't even looked at former director David O. Russell's plans for the project, "...It's really one of the most cinematic videogames, and one that has really developed characters. So, you know, there's a lot of cool, really intense things that, if they work for the film's story, I want to use them."

On Nathan Fillion playing Nathan Drake:
"I think he's a good actor," Burger adds, "[But] I think there's a lot of really good actors who don't even look like [Nathan Drake] who could play it. Where we are right now is that we're literally starting from scratch on the screenplay, and I think that once we finish it, then we'll go to actors and see who's available and who's right for the parts. Whenever that happens."

On his intended tone for the movie:
"It's [The Bourne Identity] really up to date in its own way," he says, "'The Bourne Identity' isn't your father's Cold War movie and [similarly]this is a very different kind of treasure hunt movie. It's very real and it has kind of an insane, wild feeling that comes out of the character; Nate being this con man and a bit of a hustler, living by his wits, ballsy and capable of anything."

They best use the story from the game,as its the storys and game play from the game that got it considered for a film adaption,if the director things he needs to put his own ''spin'' on this then [frick] this film

Fillion will never get this part. He is not blockbuster material. A film like this needs a strong actor that will sell tickets, Fillion is not that actor. Let it go.

you know i would rather see an Uncharted Movie that served as a prequel to the games

Fillion IS a very strong actor People said that Hemsworth wasn't capable of being a blockbuster actor who would sell tickets. People also said the same about Chris Evans and we will see how that turns out this weekend. The description given of Nate is what Fillion was to Firefly and Serenity....con man and a bit of a hustler, living by his wits, ballsy and capable of anything

@Matches I respect your opinion but who was Hemsworth before Thor? Bale was about the same level as Fillion before Batman and Fassbender was not well known until recently. I think Fillion has a shot, at least.

Can every Uncharted fan please stop chugging Nathan Fillion's cum? Please? So he looks similar to Drake, great. His acting abilities are what coun the most. And honestly, if he similar characters in other movies and tv shows, then why would you wanna see do a repeat of that. Why not get Bradley Cooper? Charming, good looking( looks like Drake too), solid acting abilities, and has the star power to make this movie into the blockbuster franchise it deserves to be.

i see my comment didnt post...
Anyway, I really like the idea of Bradley Cooper as Drake, with maybe J.K Simmons as Sully. And I hope they bring in the cast from the games as character consultants (in an ideal world, a younger Nolan North would play Nate in a movie) since they know the characters best, they can really help the movie actors flesh out the roles.

Also, Nolan should get a cameo, maybe as Nathan's dad in a photo or small flashback to show WHY HE NO LONGER HAS ANY FAMILY (That's directed at the previously attached director).

@ironpool007 not every Uncharted fan wants Fillion. I don't see the big deal about him.

Josh Duhamel,Emily Rose and Jeff Bridges, Thats my Nate,Elena and Sully.
Either base it off Drake's Fortune or just screw it all together.

Jake Gyllenhaal
- Great actor
- Has the looks and height
- Is young enough
- Has the star power
- Can do Nathan Drake type of action roles (Prince Of Persia)

We want a Fillion "repeat" as you called it because he's awesome at that kind of role. He's got that unpredictable comedy and attitude that Drake has. Cooper does too so I wouldn't mind him in the role. However Fillion is still my #1 choice. Browncoats all the way!

if they don't use the story from the game, this is going to be super horribly awful. the game already has an intriguing and unnique story, and drake's personality should not be changed, otherwise it isn't uncharted. not only have all video game movies failed, but the worst ones are the ones that try to go out and have a different plot. if they want a successful movie, stick to the game. it IS a movie pretty much.

You've played through the games and know the treasures/story. Something new with the same character would be great!

tfbpinkfloyd@ Agree. New adventure is more interesting.

Im pretty sure that with good writers they could make a one hell of a new Nathan Drake adventure.
Prequel to the games would be great. It should focus on Nate and Sully.

Look Burger, play both games...twice, then you'll understand how to draft a proper screen play for this game,it's characters and the tone.It pretty much writes itself. The story's in both games are great-the second a little better.Just pick Drakes Fortune or Among Thieves, and adapt it into a script.Don't get all ego-maniacal and think you need to change a hundred million things!
And if you have Chloe in the flick, make sure the actress has and unbelievable butt ftw.

Fillons getting old and fat not to mention lazy so there gonna have to get him in shape if hes gonna get the part for a man who climbs alot of stuff I don't see Fillon being able to get up the damn Stair stepper without a piece of chicken dangling around him!

ironpool007 i agree with you completly it seems like everybody wants Fillon to play the role but honestly it would be better for Bradley Cooper to play him, he has bigger star power, hes funny, looks simular to Nathan Drake, and has worked with the director before.

Whomever they choose, they should be dubbed by Nolan North.

What's right is right.
