Update On Spielberg Halo Rumor

Is he or is he not involved? That is the question!

There has been loads of speculation recently about Microsoft's Halo movie. Well IESB has gotten some interesting quotes regarding the development of this popular movie.

From iesb.net, here are the exact quotes:

Responding to questions we had over the Spielberg rumor (and indeed the future of the movie itself), a Microsoft spokesperson told Kotaku:

"We're glad there's still a lot of enthusiasm in the entertainment industry surrounding the idea of a Halo movie. That said, the Halo feature film remains on hold as we focus on projects like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach.

Upon further questioning, Microsoft added that they had "nothing further to share with respect to plans regarding a Halo movie".

Microsoft can say what it wants about only focusing on the development of the next installment of the Halo video game, because that's their job. That's what Microsoft is suppose to do. It is not Microsoft's job to develop the movie, that would be Spielberg's job. If the Spielberg rumor is true, then we can expect to see a Halo movie with in four years or so. Microsoft's none comment is a non-issue for me as they develop operating systems and video games not movies.

I would rather wait for someone to pick this project up and make it Epic..rather than have Peter Jackson F it all up which he was so close to doing if he wouldnt have been so greedy.

I liked the Halo game as it played out in the game. The games, as well as their subsequent stories began to pale. The first is still the best. If they focused on that, it will be successful beyond just doing it half-heartedly. It will gain more support from the average moviegoer if proper care was taken to make it like the game. Not taking too much license and to fit their own warped vision.
