Transformers, the robots in disguise, are having another crack at being the stars of their own video game again later this year, when Transformers: Devastation rolls around. The game is being developed by PlatinumGames, the studio behind BayonettaBayonetta 2Metal Gear Rising: ReveanganceThe Legend of Korra and the upcoming Star Fox Zero, and will be an action hack 'n' slash game. You can play as one of five Autobots (Optimus PrimeBumblebeeSideswipeGrimlock, and Wheeljack), as you battle Decepticon forces in large 3D environments.

Now, thanks to Activision and PlatniumGames, a brand new trailer has been released, showcasing the combat in the game, and it doesn't look half bad, but you can make that judgement for yourself in just a moment. The game is based on Transformers: Generations, but it borrows most of its aesthetic from The Transformers TV series. A number of the voice actors reprise their roles, such as the legendary Peter Cullen in the role of Optimus Prime, and Dan Gilvezan in the role of Bumblebee, amongst several others.

The game will be released on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. The official release date for the game is October 6, 2015.

PlatinumGames understands that one of the most important aspects of the Transformers is their distinctive personalities, so they are aiming to adapt those aspects into each Autobot's gameplay. For example, Bumblebee is quick and can chain together large combos in quick succession, but he sacrifices power for that speed, and Wheeljack's savviness for technology is displayed by his most prominent combat styles involving ranged weapons. The game's combat system allows for INSTANT car-to-robot attacks, and vice versa (or, in Grimlock's case, dinosaur-to-robot).

So, are any of you interested in PlatinumGames' shot at Transformers, or are you going to give it a miss? Make sure to let me know in the comments section below, and be sure to share and hit that thumbs up!
