Mark Millar Talks Wanted 2 Without Angelina!

The comic book writer confirms Wanted 2 and discusses how he feels about Jolie not returning for the sequel...

Millar who earlier today told STV, "Wanted 2 will be certainly going ahead," has now said that Angelina Jolie's non-involvement in the film's sequel is probably for the best.

"So they put something together, and it was bringing Angelina back from the dead and everything. I don't know, I think that probably just didn't sit easily with her, because it has to be a really good reason why somebody comes back from the dead." Millar said of the actresses decision not to reprise her role in the sequel and how they originally planned to bring her back.

When asked about his feelings towards her character he said, "I think it's actually more authentic if they keep her dead. She was the star of the movie really, but how cool is it to have the star dead and bring in another cool character for the next one."

"What I heard was that there's filming this year for a release at the end of next year, so the plot that they had will have some modifications now, her character will have to be written out completely. We'll see what happens."

TANKGIRL: She may not have made a brilliant Lara Croft but you've only got to watch a movie like Changeling to see that she's a great actress!

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing her play Kay Scarpetta in an adaptation of Patricia Cornwell's book series! Plus, she's hot as hell! :)

She's done some decent stuff, but I'd assume her career is pretty well on hold considering she's got 50 tots running around and climbing on her all day long.

As for Wanted, I agree with you Lee that the comic was great, and the movie pretty much sucked. It was basically just eye candy - somewhat decent as far as that goes, but that's not enough to stand up.

Ressurecting her would have just been stupid formulaic profit grabbing anyway.

She's up for some roles I know, btw, but I bet alot of them will get shelved.

JoshWilding - 2/27/2010, 4:22 PM
TANKGIRL: As I said above I disagree - unlike Fox, Jolie is actually a pretty good actress. I mean, she's an Oscar nominated (and Oscar winning) actress! The best Megan Fox has done is an MTV award, lol!

Maybe they could reference her in the movie

"Man, we could use Fox right about now"

"Well ir's not like we can put a wax head on her"

Something talking about how they could have brought her back

WANTED was ok. The director (Bekamatov?) is great and I liked Night/Day watch but compared to the comic I thought the movie was only halfway there. As far as what Millar has to say I'm going to wait and see because lately, as far as movies are concerned, with the exception of Kick Ass, he's totally full of shit. A sequel could be cool and NOT bringing Jolie back to life is most certainly a good idea. I wouldn't mind a sequel and I think with the way the 1st flick ended and the whole built in mythos it could generate a decent sequel. BUT I WANT THE SUIT!!! HAS TO BE ONE OF THE COOLEST COSTUMES IN A LOOOONG TIME!

Mark Millar: stick to comics. Wanted was a complete bastardization of your clever, well-illustrated comic. And you supported it as a money whore, and we all see right through it. Stick to comics.

I enjoyed the first movie. I enjoyed the comic. Neither were great and lacked something in my opinion, but they are definitely separate animals. Honestly, I believe Millar's ending to the comic was a complete cop-out, which may explain his sell-out attitude about the movie. But I think they need to forget about Jolie and move on in the direction they were going because we all know by now that it's never going to be like the comic, and that's actually okay by me. The comic was just too much of a downer. And I hate Eminem - at least his face anyway. Now if Halle Berry came in for the second one, that would be okay. If she's directed well, she can be a great actress. But that's just a thought. Who knows. What I do know is Freeman line of "Shoot this m-----f----r!" was worth the price of admission. Oddly, I've been saying that phrase all week. Hey, work has been a m-----f-----r. ;)

Didn't they just announce they were not doing a Wanted 2 because Jolie wasn't going to sign? I thought there was an article on that a couple days ago. Now they are going to do it. I wish they would make up their mind or things need to be confirmed more before they are posted here.

As for Jolie, I am one of the few men on the planet who does not find her sexy. Too scrawny and too strange for my taste.

JoshW - ah yeah, hell Wanted wasn't even very long ago. I am losing time here lol. Had a feeling I should have looked up what she was doing on IMDB before I said that. I do actually admire her for adopting those kids and devoting alot of her time to them - more people should do that imo.

I did also enjoy her more matured dramatic role in Changeling - she has alot of potential left in her.

juggy4711 - LOL I know what you mean man. Sometimes all I can think of when watching her is that seen from Deliverance where the hillbillies are raping John Voight and they're like "this one sure does have a perty mouth".

Dog - now that my love affair has ended with Kate Beckinsale (whiteout did it man), I'd consider that a pretty good idea. I mean it would be the mainstream obvious choice, but we all know she can play a sort of two sided crazy bitch quite well.

*edit* was referring to Jolie for Catwoman of course. I see alot of people suggesting younger actresses, but it is catWOMAN. 35, 36 - She'd be great, undoubtedly. And her weight seems to fluctuate a bit - she doesn't always look "scrawny" at all to me; often seems quite healthy. She is just exotic with that lip mutation, and if you can get over the Jon Voight thing, I'm sure everything will work out just fine lol.

She wasn't really THE star, was she? I mean I know she's famous and she's probably what brought people to the movie but I thought James McAvoy did a great job, and he was the main character.
