A DarkMowgli CBM Exclusive: Here's Why Wonder Woman is Overrated

Wonder Woman was no doubt one of the most hyped cbms ever upon release. Which sparked ENDLESS "is WW overrated debates." More than I've seen for any other cbm. Is this merited? Let's take a closer look.

Wonder Woman could be the most overrated comic book movie of all time. WB had a year long media blitz influencing sites and so on to push the heck outta of it. The reason why...the whole DCCU was facing finiacial doom!!:

DCCU Profits(excluding WW):

Man of Steel: 42mil

Batman v Superman: 105mil

Suicide Squad: 158mil

Justice League: 50-100mil negative

That comes to about 230mil profit total for the whole DCCU!!. It's no secret the DCCU has under performed since the beginning.

Wonder Woman was doomed to fail. Just like Justice League. WB knew this. If WB hadn't overhyped the heck out of that movie WW would have only made about 350-450mil ww. It was sure to fail just like the rest. It would have been about 120mil negative after ticket sales. FACT: Even if Wonder Woman had just broke even the whole DCCU combined would only be around 150-200mil in profit. Epic fail considering the billion+ budget it cost to make the five movies.

Even with the fake Wonder Woman hype Justice League still flopped. Take away the WW overhyping JL would have made around 500mil instead of 650. A negative of 200mil instead of the 100mil it's negative now. WB already predicted this. When added that puts the whole DCCU around 90mil under profit. WB. WAS. NOT. GOING. TO. ALLOW. THIS! Hence the insane WW overhyping.

UN ambassadors campaign, Oscars campaign, RT claiming WW is the "highest reviewed cbm ever" even though there own numbers prove otherwise, sites claiming it's "good as TDK" though no one agrees with that, WB campaigning for EVERY small award this movie can muster, etc...

Wonder Woman's overhyping was never about it being a female lead comic book movie or it's "because DC finally made a good movie" as some think. It has been and always been about the money. WB was about to take a epic humiliating loss. They couldn't allow the DCCU to be declared non profitable.

Wonder Woman was no doubt one of the most hyped cbms ever upon release. Which sparked ENDLESS "is WW overrated debates." More than I've seen for any other cbm. But how has Wonder Woman/Gal faired after the initial hype?

It seems to me she is failing to live up to the hype:

1. There was a myriad of WW articles around release. But have you noticed no one talks about WW DVD sales? Yep. It did ok but nothing on the level of hype the movie had while in theaters. So why aren't DVD sales living up to the hype.

2. "Gal is suuuuch a great actress! She proved everyone wrong! She killed it as WW!" At lot of that was going around, right. When ever a actor starts blowing up they start getting a lot of roles. Have you noticed Gal ISNT GETTING ANY WORK. Hollywood isn't buying into the Gal hype train. They don't want her.all that hype and she has yet to be casted or rumored to be casted in a major staring role outside of the DCCU. Why? Does Hollywood know something we don't?

3. She failed to save JL. A LOT of people was claiming JL would be a hit because she was such a break out star. So what happened? JL became the biggest flop of all time! Proving once again WW isn't living up to the hype. But why?

The hype was fake. Wonder Woman is failing to live up to the hype because it was fake. But it served it's purpose. WB cheating with this one movie saved the DCCU from being in the red.

Solid movie, best in the DCEU without a doubt (although I might've actually had a better time with JL). Is it the groundbreaking movie it's often treated as? On certain levels, maybe, yeah. But just as a superhero movie, and as movie in general, I don't think it's quite as special as people make it out to be.

Uhhh... I mean I guess I’m just happy to be included lol.

WW was a solid, good film. It had some issues(what doesn’t?), but it’s not really the film itself that set the world ablaze. It was its cultural impact. The impact it made is far more important than the quality of the film itself, from a certain point of view.

Yes it is over-rated. If Ant-Man was the first cbm ever to feature a white man in the lead, it would be coveted as the most extraordinary and important piece of work in the history of the genre. As it is, Ant-Man is a solid cbm.

Wonder Woman comes it about the same level as Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, or Captain America First Avenger. It is below Spider-Man Homecoming and Iron Man 1. Better than every other DCEU flick.

It's a little overrated simply for being a female driven and directed film (it definitely suffers in the final act) but it's still a great film and I really enjoyed it.
