Before Warner Bros. decided to finally move forward with a Wonder Woman movie, the studio teamed up with NBC to bring the Amazon warrior to the small screen. The pilot failed to land a series order though and was widely considered terrible by those who managed to see it and now star Adrianne Palicki says she was left "devastated" by the news that she wouldn't get the chance to play the hero.
Joss Whedon and others have argued that Ally McBeal showrunner David E. Kelley simply wasn't the right fit for Wonder Woman but Palicki believes that it ultimately boiled down to a matter of timing.
"We were a year or two too soon," she says. "It was right before the main pop of Marvel movies and television series. The movies [had started coming] out, but it wasn’t like [today, where] that’s what makes money now — that’s what people want to see. It was a little too soon, it was a little early."
So, had Marvel launched its cinematic universe a year or two sooner, would Wonder Woman really have found success? Probably not, especially as it was genuinely quite bad and audiences have shown they won't tune in to poor quality comic book TV shows like Inhumans. What do you guys think of Palicki's comments?
