2017 marks the date for the first female led superhero movie in this new age of Marvel and DC films. But this could also be the date a big budget superhero film comes out that is directed by a woman. Warners also is opting for strong directors, tapping David Ayer (Fury) for Suicide Squad and seeking a female helmer for Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.
The Wonder Woman movie no doubt deserves to have the best actors, writers, and director going for it. But Is a female director neccesary for Wonder Woman to succeed? Or Is Warner Bros just limiting themselves by not looking at all directors both male and female?
