Another years
Oscars goes by, another seeming disregard for superhero movies. It is that topic which
The Lonely Island recognises in their hilarious unused song which they were asked to write for last night's presentation. The video was uploaded to
the group's YouTube channel. In its description and its intro they inform us why it wasn't featured:
We were asked to write a song for this year’s Academy Awards… Unfortunately, it wasn’t chosen because it was “financially and logistically impossible”, so for fun we thought we’d share the rough storyboards of what would have been a fully shot, star-studded music video of exorbitant cost. All vocals and visuals are temp, so please use your imagination and enjoy!
The video features many arguably snubbed movie's leads, from Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman to Chris Hemsworth's Thor to Bill Skarsgard's Pennywise, and more.
Its impossibility can be blamed on its absurd amount of star-power, as well as some jokes like Michael Fassbender singing about The Snowman's negative critical response, which would probably not have been seen too fondly by anyone involved in that movie's production. Nevertheless, in its current storyboard form, the song is still entertaining.
