WONDER WOMAN Concept Art Reveals A Far More Intimidating-Looking Design For The Villainous Ares
Some unused concept art for Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman has popped up online, and features a more intimidating and comic book-accurate design for the film's big bad, Ares the God of War. Check it out...
Most of us would agree that the Wonder Woman movie was pretty damn awesome, but one of the more divisive elements was definitely the villainous Ares.
Though David Thewlis did a pretty good job with what he had to work with, the overall design of the character's "final form" just didn't work for many people, and in the end the mighty God of War didn't come across nearly as formidable or intimidating as he really should have.
Now, concept artist Peter McKinstry has shared what appears to be his final design for Ares, which clearly went through quite a few alterations before reaching the screen. This actually looks a lot like the official promo art that was used in the buildup to the release, so there's a good chance those changes were made very late in the process.
Pretty cool, right? At the very least they could have shaded-out Thewlis' face and added the glowing red eyes.
Anyway, let us know what you think in the usual place, and we'll keep you posted on a home release date for Wonder Woman.
