WONDER WOMAN Director Patty Jenkins Is Under Contract To Return For A Potential Sequel; Plus BO Update
At this point a Wonder Woman sequel is pretty much a given, but will director Patty Jenkins definitely return? While there are no guarantees, it has now been confirmed that she is under contract...
Though a sequel to Wonder Woman has yet to be officially greenlit, the fact that the DC heroine's first solo adventure has been so well received and looks set to do very well at the box office means a follow-up is almost a certainty. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean the first film's director will return - though it does seem like a good possibility.
In THR's profile of Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot, the trade mentions that both are under contract to return for a potential sequel. While a movie's star would generally sign at least a 2 picture deal right off the bat, a director doing the same is less common so this is great to hear.
That said, this is still no guarantee that Jenkins will decide to get behind the camera again - after all, Tim Miller was contracted to helm another Deadpool movie, and we all know how that went down. Jenkins does seem very eager to continue Diana's story, however, so hopefully things stay on track.
As far as a Wonder Woman sequel goes, would you guys rather see Diana's origin story continue, or should the movie be set in modern times? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.
UPDATE: In related news, the latest box office numbers are in and it looks like the movie is well on track to hit that $100 million opening weekend:
