There have been a lot of rumours surrounding X-Men: Dark Phoenix, including poor test screenings, a muddled ending, and even (ultimately unfounded) reports that Fox is planning to scrap it. Now, reshoots which were initially said to last for a matter of weeks to make some minor changes will take a full three months to complete; principal photography lasted three and a half months last year!
Some of this could be down to the busy schedules of the actors involved but this is still an insane amount of time for reshoots and it doesn't bode well that they've basically been extended from two weeks to three months. Based on this, it sounds like Fox could be reshooting pretty much the entire thing, something which would explain why we still haven't seen a trailer or more stills for the movie.
None of this is particularly surprising. Simon Kinberg was in charge of those disastrous Fantastic Four reshoots and Dark Phoenix marks his actual directorial debut. Fox took a huge risk having him helm a movie as big as this one, so the end result not working isn't a surprise, especially as he's so hit and miss as a writer. Don't be shocked if someone else is named as the director of those planned reshoots!
