By now we havent had a lot of news about the status from this movie, besides some little casting news and the movie having a hard time finding a director. Despite comming out this year, we havent seen any glimpse of life from this. But the producer Simon Kinberg talked about how the story is going to be portrayed:

"Channing is a big fan of the comic, so the accent, the attitude, the costume in many ways, will be in the film. And he’s a character with a complex backstory—we’re playing him as a thief in the film, and that’s a big part of the story."

The Gambit movie release date is October 17. Are you excited for this movie?

I'm actually a little more sold on Channing as Gambit after seeing him in Hateful Eight. He was a little more suave, had an ok southern accent and even spoke french.
It made me feel more accepting of him playing the role.

has it not filmed yet? it's due out in like 10 months and hasn't filmed? is it safe to assume it will end up being shifted to a different release date?

after the disastrous production of f4, this seems like it won't end up made.

@SebsCso54 The reason Reynolds got a second chance at Deadpool is because he put in Work. He's been lobbying for the movie, and going out of his way to get it Greenlit for YEARS. He's an actual fan of the character and very passionate about his portrayal of him. That's a far cry from Kitsches mediocre performance of a fan favorite character in an abmismally flawed movie. He doesn't give a shit about Remy and he never did. I have nothing against the guy, but he wouldn't even cut it as Le Beau in a fan film.

Doubt this will come out this year at the current release. Kinberg even said they begin shooting in the spring meaning they might not even finish before May. That's not nearly enough time to get all the editing, CG effects, and reshoots in. I bet this will replace Wolverine 3's release date and that'll be moved to a few months later.
