Sounds like Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past is following the original Chris Claremont story arc pretty closely. Check out what comic book writer and 20th Century Fox Creative Consultant Mark Millar has to say about the film in an interview with SFX Magazine.

On the number of X-Men in the film and if any will get lost in the shuffle.
Millar: "It has actually been very well put together – Simon Kinberg and Matthew Vaughn worked on it together and they are both great at what they do. Then Bryan Singer came in, and, of course, he is Mr X-Men and he knows exactly how everything works. Just look at these first two X-Men movies: despite the huge cast of characters it all came together really well. These two movies never felt like overload and the balance was really, really good. On the other hand I though the third film felt crowded, but then Singer is excellent at working with ensemble casts. So with this one I feel it is all fine. I have read the screenplay and it doesn’t feel rushed and it doesn’t feel like it is too many characters.”

On Sentinels and if giant robots are the new trend in Hollywood.
Millar: “I hadn’t actually thought about that [laughs]. Yeah, that is true isn’t it? You will have a couple of big movies with giant robots in them. I don’t really want to give too much away but the Sentinels are a big feature of this story. They will be cool and this will deliver on all of the teasers. We’ve all been waiting for this ever since X-Men: The Last Stand showed us one of their heads. Now it is finally coming, and we only have to pay ten quid to see it in the cinema whereas they’re having to pay $100 million to deliver it. So I’m delighted [laughs].”

On Kitty Pryde.
Millar: “Ach, I cannae get into that [laughs]. As soon as I say something it will turn into a big internet story. Let me put it this way though: Kitty Pride fans will not be disappointed."

Much more from Millar at the source including tidbits on Kick-Ass and The Dark Knight Rises. Click the link below to read the full interview. X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently scheduled to hit theaters July 18, 2014.

Sentinels finally! Still I doubt it'll make the movie good.

But that does have me a little more interested...

Awesome. Kitty is my joint favorite member of the X-Men, sharing the spot with Iceman.

There was a balance in the first 2 X-Men movies?? Well for the most part in X-Men, yes. X2(which to me is the best X movie to date) sometimes I felt that should've been called Wolverine & The X-Men.

Hell yes to Sentinels! Will the be like how they first appeared(around 10 ft. tall) or the big ass Sentinels we all know and love?

Last, I wonder if Franklin Richards is going to be in this movie??

X2 was mostly solid, but I wouldnt gloat about 1&3.
I'll be glad when and if Dis..errr..Marvel get the properties back so they
can relaunch them and do them justice. And without all the f'd up
team rosters, timeline continuity and general bullshittery.

It is very unfortunate that Ellen Page is back in a suspected primary role. Her acting is absolutely transparent and teenage typical. Even watching her in Inception was such a significant detraction from the story, I almost hated the movie on her alone.

I cannot understand Hollywood's fascination with her.

What about Rouge ? will we ever get a faithful adaptation of her Character ? She is pretty much a female superman and all we got was a female leech....

it will be really funny the day the teaser trailer arrives and to see most of these haters getting excited for the movie.

if you really think Fox, Singer, Vaugh and Millar will dissapoint this time, after all these years and with current state of comicmovies, you will be proven wrong next year

X-men 3 was on 2006, we are on 2013 now. Totally different times and circunstances.

Boooo to Page. Her characters in movies are always so blah and teenage angst. Dont use Kitty. Use Forge and Cable. It would be so kick ass like the 90s cartoon. or recast Kitty as a better actress.

Also, recast Rogue. We need a hotter than hot heck female in this role. Sorry but Sooki has got a real busted face. Rogue was always the hottest on the team in my opinion.

I'm a huge Gambit fan but only do him if its right. Dont force him in. Would love Josh Holloway to pick it up as an older Gambit for future scenes.
