After standout performances in Scream, You, and Netflix mega-hit Wednesday, it's fair to say Jenna Ortega's star is on the rise. The latter has made the actress a household name, and with season 2 somewhere on the horizon, we're sure her popularity will only continue to increase.
Understandably, there's a lot of excitement surrounding the possibility Ortega might eventually join a comic book adaptation, but Saturday Night Live might have just come up with the perfect role for her.
This past weekend, she was decked out to look like X-Men member Rogue for a sketch that saw her play "Zena Nutrino," a psychic and student at Professor Zander's Academy for Extraordinary Children. As you might imagine, she's not happy about being forced to take part in a quiz with students from West Grove High instead of fighting the good fight!
While this is all meant to be in good fun, fans have gone nuts over the prospect of Ortega playing the MCU's Rogue, especially as she's got the white streak in her hair and is wearing the Jim Lee-inspired green and yellow costume.
Marvel Studios is likely still a long way from casting the X-Men reboot, but even if it's not Rogue, Ortega is someone we have to believe they're keen to work with.
As far as we're aware, Ortega hasn't ever really singled out a specific role or franchise she would be interested in, but after developing such a huge fan following, a comic book role feels like the logical next step (and would likely serve Ortega better than the Scream franchise).
We'll see, but this sketch is definitely good for a few laughs if you have the time to watch it.
Do you think Ortega would be a good Rogue in the MCU?
