Which X-MEN Does Bryan Singer Want In APOCALYPSE?

It's neither the full lineup nor definite inclusions, but X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer has revealed two familiar mutants he's considering for younger iterations in X-Men: Apocalypse.

X-Men: Days of Future Past doesn't hit theaters for another 2 months, but that hasn't stopped director Bryan Singer from teasing the 2016 follow-up to the "inbetweenquel," X-Men: Apocalypse. As he previously declared that the massively-destructive sequel will include younger versions of familiar mutants, many fans garnered hope that we'd finally see Cyclops and Jean Grey in full glory again. While that possibility still remains, Singer recently revealed to Cine Premiere there're two other familiar mutants he is mulling over. "I'm considering a Gambit and potentially a young Nightcrawler for Apocalypse," he said. "[I was] going to have Nightcrawler appear [in Days of Future Past] and even wrote a scene, but I felt that we were forcing too many mutants known history." As for the rest of the team, the Mexican magazine source suggests that Bryan Singer "ensured that the film will only show the last mutants (Google Translated)." What do you think?

Singer trolling by not mentioning Jean and Scott.

I will be pissed if he shafts Cyclops again in favour of Gambit and Nightcrawler.

I'd actually love X23 to appear, it'd be a good way to have a Wolverine type character appearing in First Class timeline without Wolverine himself (he's way overused).

But ONLY if it's Kaya Scodelario

Bring back Taylor Kitsch if you have to. Nightcrawler would be a teenager if this is in the 80's.

I think he's already hinted at Jean and Cyclops appearing in Apocalypse so hopefully that's true! As well as a younger Storm! Now that trio would be amazing. Why bring in supporting mutants like Gambit and Nightcrawler when you have a very underused trio of great characters that need attention.

I seem to recall Aaron Johnson's name being floated around at one point for a young Cyclops. Not for Apocalypse, but for First Class, I wanna say.

Pasto: Alexandra Daddario? Really? Between Halle Berry and Scarlett Johansson I would think comic book movies have had their fill of pretty ladies that look like frightened/confused kittens when they're trying to look tough.

Awesome! Gambit better be Apocalypse one of his horseman.

F**ING WIN!!!!!!!!!!

I knew Gambit from Origins timeline would be there somehow! lol

People claimed "How can you even know what the guy is doing? You don't work for Fox!" The Age of Apocalyose story features both young Jean and Scott. Anyone beliving they won't play some role in the film are honestly kidding themselves!

Wouldn't mind seeing a younger Nightcrawler and Gambit.

Nightcrawler might end up taking Rogue's place as I remember in the comic Mystique took Rogue in to Magneto's secret hideout so that she could join his team of X-Men. I'm guessing we'll see the same here but with a different approach of Nightcrawler being that mutant taken in.

It's already sure there will be Scott, Jean and Ororo in younger version if you read Empire, but...

@TheBlackNerd I'm sure Scott and Jean will be in it. But this won't be AOA, just a story set in the 80s featuring Apocalypse.

And Pasto...why would you cast someone in a role that's already filled in DOFP?
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 3/20/2014, 5:18 PM
Then again that does scratch out the chances of us seeing Gambit and Rogue having a decent relationship onscreen. I guess Origins won't be completely scratched out depending on if they decide to cast the same actor or people of the same age.

Logan back to past doesn't change anyone's age. He doesn't make Rogue's parents to make baby earlier. There are always chances for Gambit + Rogue, we have time travels, clones in this world.

@AgentEX

Well I mean Singer did say in the Empire magazine special/interviews that he's a fan of the "Age of Apocalypse" comic book and he's also said that it'll be the most destructive X-Men film yet so I dunno bro. But honestly I don't expect there to be a two-part film he expressed interest in doing it with Days of Future Past but he claimed it felt too much of a drag (paraphrasing) I guess we'll see soon.

I'd love to see Gambit and NIghtcrawler. What would be cool about including an 80s era Gambit is it'd essentially remove X-Men Origins: Wolverine from continuity, which is the only one they really should just consider non-canon. I have a feeling the main line-up will consist of young Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Hoult returning as Beast (who likely hasn't age much as his failed cure was derived from Mystique's cells). Gambit and Nightcrawler would be fun additions.

The only way fans will ever get what they truly want in X-men movies is to not go and see any of th. FOX will get the hint when sales drop. They will then reboot and go in a new and fresh direction. If FOX was actaully smart, they would scrap it all, and launch FF and X-men at the same time. They'd have 2 teams that can go up against each ohter, fix all the problems they have had, and spring board additional teams. I hope this movie fails. Ihaven't paid for the last 2 X-men movies. !st class was good. I liked how they fixed a lot, even though the team was like in the comics. It worked in the movie universe that was screwed up. Tese next to films will just ruin it again

For the record, I think Singer is a great director., He sucks as a writer and producer. Take the control away. Tell him what you want, and let him shoot it. That's all.

@deamon

I know, I was inferring to the fact that they possibly could've ignored what happened in origins. But since so many people (including myself) would love to see Taylor return as gambit I didn't really mind it to be honest.

I agree with the point you made with the X-Men and Fantastic Four there's so many possibilities of their being explanations surrounding the negative zone, time travel and so many other circumstances that could result in the Past X-Men appearing in the present day time. Of course there will need to be an explanation of what happened to the X-Men within our present unless they decide to go the entire multiverse route.
