Why is there so much hate on x-men: first class?

Ok, since the DAY First Class made it's way into the cinemas, it has got a horrible and I mean HORRIBLE feed back. Which I don't seem to understand completely, I realize that the timeline is way messed up from the other 4 x-men movies and that the characters for "first class" are not the same as the characters in the comics. I get it, I do. But why is everyone saying it's the worst CBM in history and that it shouldn't have even been made! Micheal Fassbender played a phenomenal magneto (Which is my all time favorite villain.) He Put the depth and emotion into the character that Ian Mckellen did not, though mckellen was also perfect as magneto, just in a different way. James MacAvoy played Charles Xavier (professor x) and nailed it, and defiantly filled the shoes of Patrick Stewart's professor x. Jennifer Lawrence played mystique and in my opinion, she pulled it off. Maybe not as well as Rebecca Romain (also older mystique) but she pulled it off pretty well. Kevin bacon played Sebastian Shaw, and he nailed it. He was perfect. In every way, he was intimidating and he convinced me that he was the character. Rose Byrne played Moria McTaggert and she was ok, but it was good to see Moria on screen for more then 10 seconds (x-3 after credit scene). Jason Flemming played Azazel, and he was perfect! He had one of the best fight scenes in the whole movie. Zoe Kravits played angel Salvadore, she was good I guess. Not my favorite. January Jones played Emma Frost and also made it believable, her Simons form was awesome. Nicholas Hoult played Hank McCoy/beast. What can I say about that? He was perfect, and he seriously pulled it off and put all of the emotion into the character that kelsey grammar did not. Caleb Landry jones played Sean Cassidy/banshee, he was ok. Probably wouldn't have been my first choice to play him, but he did banshee at least a little justice. Edi Gathegi played Armando muñoz/Darwin, he was just awesome. And died entirely to early. He would have been awesome to see in action. And finally, we have Lucas Till, who played Alex summers/Havok and was an amazing part of first class. He put that attitude into the film that was needed to make it believable. Ok, that's an amazing cast, with all very talented actors and actresses. Despite the timeline and in-movie mess ups, it was a perfect, solid, well polished movie. In my opinion, the best CBM to date. So, after you read this, don't just leave hate comments. Let's have a legit discussion about this. Pick this movie up on DVD and blu-ray sept 9th and give it another shot. Watch the film as a x-men fan, not as a movie critic or a perfectionist. Just enjoy it.

I skimmed through. 'First Class' was solid film. However, it's actually gotten great feedback. I don't know where you've been. Yeah, some complain about continuity, but the majority liked it. Financially it's done well, and critically it's been positive. Just check Rotten Tomatoes. At first, many predicted it to fail but after it's release they were proven wrong and have accepted it. Honestly, the hate is sparse. Those few souls who hate it, well, there's no getting through to them ;)

I've just been reading comments from people on this site for the past month, and all of the negative comments are astounding to me. I loved the film. The people who Complain, seem to complain about every CBM. but more about this film, as apposed to other CBMs. Which is why I posted the article. To see people's opinions. :)

These complainers are what I call hardcore Marvelites. The people who want every CBM to be practically exact to the comic or made by Marvel Studios otherwise in their eyes it is crap.

I'm a fan of both Marvel and DC and other comic book movies like Dark Horse. So I offer impartial opinions and am not wrapped up on changes from the comics as long as the film is good. And a good film in my opinion is one that I enjoy. I personally think that X-Men: First Class is in the top 5 best CBMs there are.

I understand, these assholes complain alot, but the fact is, the studios made bank. I don't know what type of comments you'll get, I expect most to be positive but someones always got to mention being faithful to the comics. In which I say, watch the [frick]ing cartoon! Those who know whats good, know this was a solid film.

It was a good movie. Wouldn't say the best CBM to date though.

"Which I don't seem to undersand completely, I realize that the timeline is way messed up from the other 4 x-men movies"

Thats my reason right there. The number one most important thing about writing a coherent story is making sure that the story has continuity and does not contradict anything that came before. First Class contradicts the other X-Films at every corner.

As a stand alone movie, yes it was good. But...IT ISN'T A STAND ALONE STORY. Its a prequel. If they wanted to make a stand alone reboot, then they should have cut out all ties to the previous films. Not keep what they wanted and then change other things. If you watch First Class, then watch X1,X2,X3 and Wolverine, then the ONLY one that doesn't fit the overall story is First Class.

I'm sorry, but thats just poor story telling.

pretty much what corndogburglar said nailed it on the head & i'll just add it featured a bunch characters i didn't care much for as well.

idk... the X-men films didn't make me care for hardly any of the characters, First Class may have been the best of the X-men films but that's not saying much, it still had a horrible villain aka Sebastian Shaw, as he wasn't developed very much and was just like all X-men movie villains, saying I'm going to destroy the world and never really got to why he was as much, even Emma Frost and Azazel where horribly underdeveloped, in fact there where so many underdeveloped characters that basicly it just comes down to Prof X, Magneto, and Mystique, all the others where 1 dimensional to 0 dimensional, I can't quite get why people say it had such good action either, it only had Azazel fight for like two secs, then had magneto hold a ship up into the air for a bit, had some of the team members fly around a bit and that's about all...

I'm not saying that in some ways it wasn't good, it had some great character development in it, but even if you just say that well, it's good because it is better than any other X-men film in the past doesn't make it great IMO, to me it's like Superman Returns, it hangs on to a story that doesn't do hardly any of the character's justice and those ties ultimately make it not as good as using the same character designs and getting messed up with continuity... I guess what I'm trying to say is I didn't like it for the reasons above, it may have had a shipload good acting/story in it, but IMO it was in a sea of bad acting/story... it wasn't horrible I would just like a nearly perfect story for the X-men like what Marvel Studios has given with every story in the MCU, but this is my opinion, I just wanted to explain that we weren't all haters of it, we just wanted it to be better...

@ supersayianfan1

i do think fox could follow the comics more closely,i'm not saying word for word or pannel for pannel but actually using the original line up in first class would of been better if you ask me.also fox does make good movies just pretty shit cbm's they've still yet to make a great movie same as marvel studios they've made a few very good films 4/5 but nothing great 5/5.

here are some cbm's by fox.

-x-men
-x-men 2 3/5
-x-men 3
-x-men origins wolverine
-x-men first class 3/5
-fantastic four
-fantastic four 2
-daredevil (daredevil directors cut is better)
-elektra
-aliens vs predator (avp started life as a cbm)
-aliens vs predator 2

i think thats all of them but i may of missed a couple.

Even though im a firm fox hater X-men first class was the second best CBM of last year to my suprise only behind Cap. I thought the movie was well written and the charactor performances were spot on. XFC is second in the X-Franchise only behind X2. The hate isnt so much for this movie in particular but hate for what fox forced it to be against what it could have been thru Marvel studios. I have to admit tho after X3 and XOW I really wanst going to watch anymore X movies but XFC has me excited to see where they go next. I really hope XOW2 is good (please dont destroy the Japan saga).

@ supersaiyan

it isn't a matter of following the comics for me. for me, its a matter of following its own film continuity. First Class was a hack job as far as that goes.

Actually First Class has been the best critically reviewed CBM of the year... And after the Epic Fails that were Xmen 3 and Xmen Origins, IDGAF if it ties to the other films.
Fox has said that they are starting a new franchise
