Kingsman star Taron Egerton has been a fan-favourite choice to take over the role of Wolverine from Hugh Jackman for several years now, and he's always talked positively about the possibility of making it happen. The talented Welshman would be an undeniably great pick for a younger Logan in the MCU, though we still don't know for sure what Marvel Studios has planned for the clawed mutant.
Egerton was recently interviewed on the BBC's The One Show (via Digital Spy) in the UK, and was asked to comment on the speculation he could be the next Wolverine.
"There’s no truth in it at all," the actor stated. "There’s no truth in it. It would be, obviously, really exciting, but I don’t know."
As for whether he's actually interested in the role, Egerton added: "Yeah, of course. That’s like playing Bond. It would be exciting to play a role where you play to by such a huge audience. Those movies are the most watched movies in the world. It’s a great thrill and it’s a great part. But there’s no truth in it. Very flattering, though."
Is he protesting a little too much here? Probably not, but we'd like to think Marvel Studios has taken note of what a popular choice he is for this role. The character has been absent from our screens since 2017's Logan, and with the X-Men now part of the MCU, it only makes sense for an up-and-coming star like Egerton to take the hero and do something new with him.
