As we wait for an official update on Marvel Studios' plans for the X-Men following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, a new rumor may have shed some light on what Kevin Feige and co. have in store for Wolverine.

According to That Hashtag Show, a Wolverine anthology series is in early development for the Disney+ streaming service. The show would reportedly follow Logan through various points in his long life, with the first season focusing on the mutant berserker's time with Department K and transformation into Weapon X.

Marvel is said to feel that an anthology series will allow them to introduce the character to the MCU while giving them the freedom to explore "Wolverine’s vast history without affecting any role that he would have in an X-Men film."

How much stock should you put in this? Well, the source has had a few major scoops pan out in the past, but this one should definitely be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism. For one, it seems unlikely that a story this big would bypass the trades. Plus, would Marvel really choose to debut such an iconic character on Disney+ before giving him the big-screen treatment?

It's certainly possible, but with all of the X-Men related rumors doing the rounds online, it's best not to get your hopes up. If this is on the level, we should find out more very soon.

Wolverine imo should be the first mutant in the MCU. You don't even have to explain he's a mutant at first. Give me my hairy short Canadian with claws

@TheMapleSyrup - Have him fight the Hulk.

@marvel72 - The only shame is I would’ve wanted Wolverine to fight Hulk from the first Avengers film, Hulk now is just completely different, not entirely on board with everything they’ve done with the Bruce/Hulk character, I really wish we had gotten Ruffalo Hulk films to flesh his arc out a bit more. Hoping we see one soon, Marvel needs to make a deal with Universal for that.

@JohnCastillo - agreed. The smart Hulk thing taking pictures with children, that real Disney stuff rather than classic Marvel. No time for it myself.

@JohnCastillo - Easy, have Hulk pop up in a potential Wolverine series in the 5 years between Hulks origin and the events of the Incredible Hulk. That way, you get Wolverine Vs classic Hulk, Bruce wouldn't remember fighting Wolverine because he is in Hulk mode the whole time. I mean Hulk is said to be in Canada during those 5 years, so its perfect

@dancingmonkey08 - I actually watched the Incredible Hulk last night, and Ross mentioned that Bruce may be potentially responsible for the deaths of 2 Canadian hunter's, set an episode before the incredible hulk, that could work too.

@TheMapleSyrup - Fox movies already kept pushing him to the spotlight all the time at the expense of the other characters. I say they should avoid Wolverine for a while to finally give room for other X-Men to shine.

@JohnCastillo - If they use Immortal Hulk he can tap into the different Hulk personality.

As cool as this would be, Logan is WAYY too big a character for a TV show. It’s also been proven that he’s a box-office draw (the last movie became one of the highest r-rated films ever), so it doesn’t makes sense that they wouldn’t want to cash in on that success
