As we wait for an official update on Marvel Studios' plans for the X-Men following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, a new rumor may have shed some light on what Kevin Feige and co. have in store for Wolverine.
According to That Hashtag Show, a Wolverine anthology series is in early development for the Disney+ streaming service. The show would reportedly follow Logan through various points in his long life, with the first season focusing on the mutant berserker's time with Department K and transformation into Weapon X.
Marvel is said to feel that an anthology series will allow them to introduce the character to the MCU while giving them the freedom to explore "Wolverine’s vast history without affecting any role that he would have in an X-Men film."
How much stock should you put in this? Well, the source has had a few major scoops pan out in the past, but this one should definitely be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism. For one, it seems unlikely that a story this big would bypass the trades. Plus, would Marvel really choose to debut such an iconic character on Disney+ before giving him the big-screen treatment?
It's certainly possible, but with all of the X-Men related rumors doing the rounds online, it's best not to get your hopes up. If this is on the level, we should find out more very soon.
