Yesterday, the news broke that Logan director James Mangold had officially begun working on a story outline for a spin-off movie revolving around Dafne Keen's Laura, a.k.a. X-23.

Though the project is only in the very early stages of development, once things do get moving on the script, Mangold will have X-23 creator and Thor: Ragnarok screenwriter Craig Kyle on hand to work alongside him.

Kyle send out the Tweet below, which was followed by THR updating their original report:

We still have no idea how Laura will be reintroduced into the franchise, but it can't be bad having the man who originally came up with the character sharing his expertise.

Tell us, how would you approach an X-23 movie? Drop us a comment in the usual place.

He also reached out to him on Logan & he loved Laura in Logan

I hope for Laura we see Liev back as Laura meets her Uncle Sabertooth. Maybe Sabertooth has a costume Logan use to wear as Wolverine and gives it to Laura & she wears it

@LEVITIKUZ - I don't like how it looks on her. It looks better on Logan.

Sounds great to me.

Though I hope they re-introduce Laura to a proper X-Men timeline, whatever that means.

Continuing her adventures in a future X-Men timeline where all the X-Men are dead is not as appealing.

Please, Cable, rescue her. You're our only hope.

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - Yeah, the film better end with Cable picking her up and taking her back to the past so she can be in X-Force.

Who would've thought a man who has such real contempt for the genre would do so well working within it.

@BlackBeltJones - He said his hatred for it led to the movie's success

I loved Logan but... this film won't garner the same attention Wonder Woman did. Not even close to it. I'd rather just have them recast Wolverine.
