Banshee Cameo In Wolverine Movie

Banshee Cameo In Wolverine Movie

Aussie actor/scooper "fairdinkum45" sent us word that super-screamer Banshee will make a cameo appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

By CBMcontributor - Dec 05, 2008 10:12 AM EST

I'm an actor in Australia and found out through a friend that Banshee will have a featured cameo in the Wolverine movie. This part will be non-speaking and played by a young actor (25 max). Logan and Victor will also be young guys in the film.

Not sure if you knew about Banshee (a little mifted that he wont be older)

Whether it's true or not doesn't really matter, I dug Banshee, he's a cool dude. Does a cameo really matter though? Is he just going to be Sean Cassidy like that guy was Hank McCoy in X-Men? If so, it doesn't matter if he appears or not. Kind of like a young Scott Douchetastic Summers. I hate that guy...

Well at least we get to see Banshee not like x2 were rumors of gambit spread around and all we got was his freaking name.
Im actually interested to see how the Blob is going to turn out. Cause the dude that is palying him could of been a super hero they way he was all cut up.

is this movie just going to be one long cameo for every marvel character who hasnt showed up in a movie yet? thats kinda how it comes off.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/5/2008, 3:21 PM
well its deffo a possibility. but i believe gambit and deadpool at least have substantial parts. cyclops is only glimpsed as a youngster in a holding cell..prob wer wel see banshee aswell. to be honest as long as wolvie and sabertooth kick ass and its a good story ill be happy
Shaman
Shaman - 12/5/2008, 6:23 PM
Well, in my opinion, i don't mind him, i don't think i'd like a whole movie about him so a cameo suits me fine. I though he was kinda cool on the X-Factor tv movie... or show (i don't remember). But i think it sucks that the Irish don't have that many cool superheroes. Banshee's kinda watered down to "represent" i find. I mean, i never been to Ireland but it's on my top three places for upcoming trips. I think they deserve a better hero.

Banshee, Siryn, Slaine, Comet Man, The Shamrock, Hitman, Judge Joyce, Jack-O-Lantern, Proinsias Cassidy, Hellstrike, The Gay Ghost (haha), Black Tom Cassidy, Brendan Finn, Irish Wolfhound, Hank McCoy (to a VERY small extent, yes his family is Irish, not Scottish)

They've got 'em, albeit as Shaman has stated, not very cool...
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/5/2008, 8:23 PM
mmmm, well i havnt heard of all of there..slaine and cassidy are shit cool but not exactly superheroes! black tom is banshees cousin right? and siyrns his neice or daughter. yep, ireland definately needs a new breed of comic hero...maybe ill just have to invent one!

this movie is sounding less and less cool...

IonParallax - 12/5/2008, 10:05 PM
Maybe you can invent something like...The Emerald Avenger. Or is that too GL like? Sorry, i'm partial. Ire of the Isle? He can be created by the Irish scientist from ancient times, as seen in the Family Guy episode where they're researching their history. He protects people like the Minoans and Celts and Phoenicians etc etc from the ravages of (Marvel) people like En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse), or Selene and whatever other Externals were around then (not Cannonball because he was born in Kentucky) or he could be DC and protecting ancient civilizations from Vandar Adg (Vandal Savage) and Teth Adam (Black Adam) and Lilith. Either way he should have Earth, Light, and Fire (the origin of the Irish flag, you likey?) powers. He can call forth plants and stones and such, create blinding light of the whole visible spectrum, or negate light to make things pitch black, and pyrokinesis. AWESOME SUPERHERO! You can name him, or her, however you'd like, i've come to the conclusion that my names thus far have sucked...

As long as Wolvie says Hasta la Vista baby!, before he kills th elast guy, im cool.

Ion, when you say "Either way he should have Earth, Light, and Fire (the origin of the Irish flag, you likey?) powers." Are you suggesting that the tricolor of Ireland was chosen to represent elements?

If so, I should tell you that the tricolor of Ireland basically represents Catholic (green) peace or a truce between (white) the Protestants (orange).

But cool ideas none-the-less.
IonParallax
IonParallax - 12/6/2008, 6:10 AM
Oh yea, Vex, I am fully aware of the actual origins of the Irish flag, it was just my comic book version of it's origins, ya know, the underlying reason behind it. The Catholic and Protestant could still remain because it's a HUGE part of Ireland, they wouldn't use the superheroesque origin for diplomatic and political/religious purposes. Kind of like the national secret that everybody from Ireland knows, but nobody tells.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/6/2008, 11:38 AM
yeah i definately think earth light and fire is cooler than the religious bollix! thats a really good idea. of course we could always go the paraody route...10canman...after 10 cans of beer hel fight anyone!
NoobMike
NoobMike - 12/6/2008, 12:46 PM
OMG I think this is one of those things where studio execs say, ok we need merchandising based on the movie. Mmmm action figures, what do we have? Wolverine, Sabretooth, Cyber.... any more? damn we need more characters I know let's put in chameo appearances by Gambit, Banshee, Deadpool, Cyclops, etc, etc. This will give us loads of action figures and people will buy them.

Does anyone else get that feeling?
Vex
Vex - 12/6/2008, 1:13 PM
No worries, I wasn't sure Ion, that's why I said "if so". I can't have someone walking around thinking my native flag had something to do with elements, but like rorschach01 says, and I agree, it's a cooler take on it. Kind of like getting back to the Celtic pagan roots.

Here's an idea,

What about a guy who is built sort of like Thor and has the ability of terrakinesis, he can shape earth. But only into weapons, like hammers, axes, claymores etc. And to play on some Celtic mythology (because apart from giants there really isn't much there) he happens to have the blood of Cuchulainn, who is sort of like an Irish Achilles, running through his veins and that offers him a degree of invulnerability and super strength as well as a single drop of the blood on his earth weapons makes them unbreakable as long as he's holding them.

(Hmmm... this could be good, maybe I'll sketch it out.)
NoobMike
NoobMike - 12/6/2008, 1:23 PM
mmm Vex so if he throws them they're useless? no option for long range attacks?
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/6/2008, 1:32 PM
vex thats shit cool! i have been out done by a couple of lads that aint even irish! right i have to get the thinking cap on. 200 ad character slaine is sort of a cuculainn type dude..he even carries the gae bolga..his famaous spear. as far as mythology goes we also have the kelpie..its a pretty gruesome demon that comes from the sea to eat people..captain kelpie! thats a joke by the way. see banshee is already such a great character, i always wished they used him in more long running stories. i started reading gen x when i found out he was going to be in it but it didnt amount to much. i think they may have actually killed him off..anyone know?

A young actor playing Banshee? Must be some misinformation there because Simon Pegg is almost 40...
IonParallax
IonParallax - 12/6/2008, 3:08 PM
Vex, those are great additions, I think we have th making of a great Irish character. I wish I could draw...I would totally do this up.

But as for your question Ror, yes, he died trying to save a plane full of people. See, he was stabbed in the throat and hadn't fully healed his vocal cords yet. So when the plane was out of control, he tried using his sonic scream to slow it down and redirect it, but with the vocal cords not fully healed, it didn't work. Slammed into him, and it crashed, killing him and the passengers on board. That's at least 2 X-Men killed by a plane...

Noob, they're not useless, just not impervious when out of his hands. Once they leave his hands they're just normal weapons that cann still kill and maim, but he can't, for instance, throw them at a rock golem and expect them to work.
IonParallax
IonParallax - 12/6/2008, 3:21 PM
So, here's Irish Guy (name pending):

Genetically created by ancient Irish scientists from the blood of Cuchulainn, to protect theirs as well as others civilizations from the ravages of warbound creatures, demons, other super beings. Has the build of Thor.

Powers include: Super Strength, slight degree of Invulnerability, Terrakinesis, Light Manipulation, Pyrokinesis. Also has the ability to imbue his earthen-made weapons with imperviousness (is that a word) using his blood.

What else?

I'm getting sick of all the freakin cameos in these movies..
Vex
Vex - 12/6/2008, 10:00 PM
Noobmike, No if he throws them, they'll still do damage they just won't be indestructible. Also, I don't like the idea that he can leave indestructible weapons all over the place for others to use against him. That way it makes him fallible to an extent.

Rorschach01, nice ideas, I like the spear. Oh, and I am Irish so it works out.

Ion, I like the ideas, kinda like a Ghost Rider dealing with hell spawns and such.

I thought of his name too while I was out for dinner: How about "Kern"? Which is what the Gaelic called a solider.

I haven't drawn in awhile but I'll flesh this guy out some more and draw it, then post it some time on my photobucket site for you guys to check out.

Being from Irish heritage I agree with all you guys saying that their should be more Irish heroes(even though I do like Banshee) and your ideas are all pretty good.I think I came up with a pretty cool name for a girl character at least: "Erin Go Bragh" which translates to "Ireland Forever"...what you guys think?
Shaman
Shaman - 12/8/2008, 9:48 AM
Actually, if this new Irish hero has "druidic" powers there is only one name that's cool enough for him...

SHAMAN!!!
digitalbath263
digitalbath263 - 12/8/2008, 5:37 PM
ha well Marvel couldn't make an Irish character called Shaman they already have a character called Shaman who is with Alpha Squad but I guess they could reuse the name.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/8/2008, 7:23 PM
that shaman kicked the bucket so i think it would be ok! they have actually killed of a few mwmbwes of alpha flight..vindicator, puck, northstar..im sure theres more. i used to like that team actually.

i just found out recently that sabertooth was beheaded! i dont read every x title going but man that was kept quiet!
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/8/2008, 7:30 PM
by the way logan x..so what if theres a few cameos? they are all cool characters, im sure they wont eat into logans screen time! if your problem is with the xmen canon well..the comics themselves barely stick to one anyway! so gambit and deadpool are a bit of a stretch to be put in logans backstory..look at stryker, deathstrike, iceman ect in the other movies..they all had radical character makeovers and it didnt hurt those movies did it?

I like this idea. What I'm really excited about is the X-Men Orgins: Magneto. That opens the door for so many characters. Black Widow and Quick Silver anyone? But I like the idea of him getting a cameo and not being a role character per se. i would want banshee to build his story. Black Tom, The Jug(is he still in jail?), and Siryn. Fox really needs to give rights back to Marvel so this whole thing can unravel the way it is supposed to and we can have quick silver in the avengers sequel and wolverine too. There are some real bad ass villians in the X-Men franchise that I need in Avengers movies.
Shaman
Shaman - 12/9/2008, 9:59 AM
And as for the Magneto origins as we tirelessly mentionned before, it will suck. You cannot have both of them become enemies before they build cerebro and also before they even recruit Jean Grey! It was already established that these two were working together, hand in hand, before they struck differences. It makes no sense what so ever in the previous X-men films's continuity! What are FOX making they're own reboot now? WTF?!?!?!?!?!?
thesmythefactor
thesmythefactor - 12/9/2008, 11:49 AM
This movie is going to suck because Fox has no idea what they are doing when it comes to comic book movies. The x-men films have been some of the worst comic movies made to date which is a real shame, because they in my opinion are among the best comics
