The feral fury rages on as Activision announced yesterday that X-Men Origins: Wolverine Uncaged Edition downloadable videogame content is now available for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system. Inspired by 20th Century Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in theaters everywhere, players can now download the Weapon X Arena, a level composed of four unique combat simulators, from Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points and from the PlayStation Store.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine Screenshots

Custom Combat Arena
Gamers can spawn any combination of small and large enemies to face combinations not available in standard gameplay, from hordes of grunts they can cut down in seconds to a complex mix of enemies, including a Sentinel Prototype, Jungle Grappler, Machine Gunners and more.

Ladder Challenge
Once players have encountered all enemies in the game, the Ladder Challenge room unlocks, presenting gamers with a preconfigured challenge. Enemy types and numbers start small and ramp up, flooding the room for fifty waves of increasingly difficult combat challenges.

Environmental Simulator
This room includes all the unique environmental weapons in the game, including broken tree branches that can be used as spears, forklift skids to throw enemies toward and computer consoles into which players can smash enemies—to name a few.

The Weapon X Arena also contains a bonus room with heightened enemy reaction effects.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine videogame is rated “M” (for Mature) by the ESRB on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, and PLAYSTATION 3.

Yeah I think it is the same stuff. I knew eventually they were going to allow them to be downloadable.

This game was nearly everything the movie should have been. I can't say enough good things about it. If you liked games like God of War and Star Wars: Force Unleashed, then you really need to check this one out. I am currently playing it through on the hard difficulty. I beat the game once already and I am still finding new ways to kill things. You can unlock comic costumes to wear throughout the game as well. This game is by far the best game to be based on a movie. To some of you, that may not say much, but do yourselves the favor of at least renting it and I promise you won't be disappointed.

800 points? WTF?!

Is it just me or am I not alone in feeling that XBOX 360 Market place charge far too much for far too little. Isn't it enough that you pay 60 odd dollars for the game itself as well as pay for the subscription for XBOX Live Gold that you have to now go out every time you buy a game and drop another $20-$40 for friggin' points to buy what? an extra level? or some stupid theme pack?

What a [frick]ing rip-off and I distinctly remember Microsoft advertising that going with the premium membership you would get Marketplace points returns and bonuses and for as long as I've had it I haven't seen shit.

XO:Wolverine game is fun but really, 800 points for an extra level is ridiculous. Try half that or [frick]ing free and quit the gouging.

Shaman: Told you that InFamous was worth buying! I just finished it-amazing game!!!

Ill only buy this DLC if its fairly cheap-its probably only about 20-30 mins long so not worth spending more than a few quid on

I would be with you on that shaman but I actually download my games so I enjoy the free gaming. The game is really great tho. I won't be purchasing the maps tho. It just seems rediculous for them to charge 800msp for that. I only pay for cod maps. Thats it. The only extras worth buying.

Shaman: 4 days for maybe something like 4-6 hours a day so maybe 15ish plus hours roughly?!? that includes everything apart from collecting ALL the shards. However its worth playing the game a second time for the different evil/good choices (i played it good the first time) and for all the extra trophies you can unlock of course!!! the game doesnt give you any stats for how long it took etc (which i found a bit annoying) but overall its one of the best games iv ever played!!!

BmanHall- Yeah me too but August was just too far away so i bought InFamous :) Not regretting though :P

I feel really let down by the Wii version of this game. The replayability is basically zero, and we don't get these sorts of things apparently.

I don't think they should market the game as basically the same, and then leave so much out-- differing graphic quality I can understand, but not this.

Nathan, this may be a silly question but how are you getting bold type in your article. Do you use keyboard shortcut keys? I've never noticed any type tools in my "manage articles" area.

Wolverine is the best movie tie in ever. It remindes me of riddick tho because the game was 20x betteer then the movie.and how could you guys complain about the download cost. I mean come on its like 9 bucks. I pay more then that for a pack of cigs in ny. Looks like this is going to be a good year for video games, we got batman arkum asylum in aug halo odst in sept modern warfair 2 and isn't gran tursimo due out. Looks like I won't be leaving the house till new years

@betty - You can include basic HTML in comments/articles. To bold something you can use <strong>YOUR WORDS</strong>, which will give you YOUR WORDS

Some people use the old <b> tag, but it was *supposed* to be deprecated years ago...

Hope that helps!

@Shaman - I just did some more digging and it looks like Tenchu 4 (officially titled Tenchu: Shadow Assassins) is for the Wii and the PSP only.

Apparently there was a lot of rumors going around that it was going tob e for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but according to the official press releases and assets (I finally found some, but haven't added them to my site yet), it's wasn't meant to be.

njfuzzy: if you want the proper versions of games buy a real games consol like a ps3 instead of a wii!!!

I bought the game and it really gets tiring playing it
TheMyth

@rockingrich1webb: how? You must just be one of those button-mashers, cause I'm on my 2nd run through the game and I'm still finding new ways to kill people. I suppose if games like God of War and Force Unleashed are tiring as well i guess that makes sense, but I really have to ask what games you prefer playing.
OptionFour
OptionFour - 6/7/2009, 2:21 AM
Haven't played this yet, but I might pick it up soon. Not sure how I missed it, actually.

@BmanHall,
I know you didn't ask me, but I'm giving my opinion anyway. Ha! InFamous, reviewed overall, I'd give it a 7.5. Its a good game but some of the side missions get repetitive. The powers are a blast, though! The reason I knocked the score down a bit is because of geometry problems, some stealth missions that felt wedged in, and a few confusing mechanics here and there (being unable to climb fences, though you can climb literally anything else in the world; falling in water in a level map hurts you, doing it outside kills you, etc.)
If that stuff isn't going to bother you? Its an excellent game.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 6/7/2009, 3:25 AM
it had a few very minor faults like you mention OptionFour but I still think that its awesome-cant wait to play through it again as a villain! Anyone seen Prototype, that looks similar to InFamous and is a sort of superhero (or at least superpowers) game!?

Thanks for the research Nate, sad to hear they're not at least working on an upcoming one. I mean, i'm glad they made Assassin's creed 2 and all but after doing Tenchu on the Wii, UBISOFT really could have done one on the PS3. Cause next to Techu, Assassin's creed is nothing!

BmanHall, sorry i'm a tad late, InFamous is IMO, just as good as Assassin's creed, but in different ways. I've never been a HUGE fan of Grand Theft Auto but i did enjoy the concept. Well, this is Grand Theft Auto for super heroes so it rakes in cool factor points for me. The controls are very good concidering you run all over the place and have to shoot your way through gangs and stuff and that you can climb almost anywhere and freakin vault off rooftops to land on neighboring wires and antenas. The atmosphere is enthraling like Blood Omen 2 was (kinda rare for an action game). As for the free roaming goes, it's the same as any other game but the choice of good or evil make it less tiring than Spiderman2 or 3. Where there is a major lack IMO, is the stealth issue. Honestly, i would have prefered them NOT to incorporate stealth missions because even though your character's quite agile in "parcourt", he TOTALLY sucks at stealth. So all in all, i'd give it a good 8/10, and i'm glad to say it was worth the 80$ i had to fork up to get it! If only Sucker Punch could get they're hands on the Batman rights and FINALLY bring us a Free Roaming Batman game, that would kick even Tenchu's ass!!! Bring in all his new stealth abilities from Arkham Asylum and make him soar through Gotham in it's entirety!!! It would easily make "Game of the decade"!!!
